We are seeking a strong and reliable Material Handler to join our bustling warehouse in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. This role is vital for the efficient movement of materials and products throughout our facility, playing a key part in our overall logistics operations. As a Material Handler, you will be responsible for operating various types of warehouse equipment to move, locate, relocate, stack, and count merchandise. Your diligence in handling materials safely and efficiently will directly contribute to our productivity and the satisfaction of our customers. If you are physically capable and possess a strong understanding of warehouse safety, we want to hear from you.
Responsibilities:
- Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment safely and efficiently.
- Load and unload materials from trucks and other transport vehicles.
- Move materials to and from storage areas, production areas, or shipping docks.
- Assist with the receiving and put-away process, ensuring accurate placement of goods.
- Perform routine checks on equipment to ensure operational safety and functionality.
- Stack and organize materials in designated locations, maintaining clear aisles.
- Assist with inventory counts and help maintain accurate stock records.
- Follow all safety guidelines and regulations, including the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Understand the importance of material handling within the broader logistics framework.
- Report any damaged materials or equipment issues to supervisors immediately.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting, often exceeding 50 lbs.
- Contribute to maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Work collaboratively with other team members to ensure operational efficiency.
- This position requires constant physical activity, including standing, walking, bending, and frequent lifting.
Qualifications:
Previous experience as a Material Handler or with operating warehouse equipment. Valid forklift certification is highly desirable. Strong understanding of warehouse safety procedures and protocols. Proven ability to perform heavy lifting. Excellent physical stamina and manual dexterity. Commitment to maintaining a safe work environment and proper PPE usage. Good communication skills and the ability to follow instructions. Knowledge of basic logistics and material flow within a warehouse setting is helpful. Ability to work in a fast-paced, demanding environment.
