We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Shipping Clerk to join our dynamic logistics team in Omaha, Nebraska. The ideal candidate will be responsible for accurately preparing, labeling, and organizing outgoing shipments. This role is crucial for ensuring our products reach our customers efficiently and without damage. You will work closely with the warehouse team to coordinate outgoing freight, maintain shipping records, and communicate with carriers. A strong understanding of shipping procedures and a commitment to accuracy are essential. We emphasize a safe working environment, requiring the use of appropriate PPE at all times. Daily tasks may involve lifting moderately heavy items, so a good physical condition is beneficial.
Responsibilities:
- Accurately pick, pack, and label outgoing shipments according to company standards and customer orders.
- Prepare shipping documentation, including bills of lading, packing lists, and customs forms.
- Coordinate with shipping carriers to schedule pickups and deliveries, negotiating rates where applicable.
- Maintain an organized and clean shipping area, ensuring all materials are readily accessible.
- Track shipments and provide updates to relevant stakeholders regarding delivery status.
- Conduct quality checks on outgoing products to ensure they meet order specifications and are adequately protected for transit.
- Operate shipping equipment, such as pallet jacks and forklifts, safely and efficiently (certification may be required).
- Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures, including the proper use of PPE.
- Assist with inventory management and cycle counts as needed.
- Troubleshoot and resolve any shipping-related issues that may arise.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in a shipping or logistics role preferred.
- Proficiency in shipping software and documentation.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Must be able to perform tasks involving lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Commitment to workplace safety and adherence to all guidelines.
