The primary responsibility of a BPA is to protect America by detecting and questioning people suspected of violating immigration and custom laws. This involves inspecting documents and possessions to determine citizenship or violations.

• Detecting: suspect individuals at or near the borders through surveillance from covert positions using infrared scopes during night operations.


• Questioning: suspects about their presence in the country with thorough examination of documents and records.


• Inspections: gathering information rapidly while making prompt decisions where necessary arrests may occur after required training completion.
