We are looking for a creative and driven individual to join our team of experts on the Cell Chemistry team. The successful candidate will research the fundamental concepts behind electrolyte behaviour and use that information to recommend improved recipes for our product line. They will additionally research new techniques to characterize electrolyte performance. We have an outstanding range of analytical tools rivalling the best in the industry, so creativity and drive are the only barriers to success.

The ROLE

Our Research Scientists lead the planning and execution of experiments designed to improve specific qualities of current and upcoming cell designs. They are responsible for summarizing and presenting this data to our research teams.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES      

• Use electrochemical techniques to understand processes within Li-ion cells.
• Execute lean and well-developed experiments in a self-directed manner.
• Identify new concepts and techniques to be applied to commercially relevant Li-ion cell designs.
• Provide support for product development teams by developing improvements to current and upcoming cell designs.
• Provide support to our manufacturing centre in Taiwan.
• Document research and accurately covey the knowledge learned to other scientists
• Maintain personal knowledge at the forefront of academic Li-ion technology and apply its lessons in industrially relevant projects

QUALIFICATIONS

• Sc. or PhD in Electrochemistry or Physical Chemistry with a strong understanding of electrochemistry fundamentals.
• Post-graduate career experience in electrochemistry with 3+ years' experience in Li-ion technology is preferred, however, relevant battery industry experience will be considered.
• Demonstrated experience applying electrochemical research to understand and then solve problems
• Strong critical thinking skills, which aid the ability to communicate project needs, challenges, decisions, and propel projects forward efficiently.
• Well-developed technical writing skills with experience in the compilation and presentation of data to groups.
• Proficiency with office products to analyze and present data. Some python experience would be a benefit.
• Ability to direct and manage projects, with limited supervision.
• Versatility and aptitude to rapidly master new concepts, equipment, etc.
• Adaptability when working in a rapidly changing work environment.
