We are looking to hire a IT Specialist – Systems & Operations for our Corporate Office in Calgary.
The IT Specialist reports to the Manager, Infrastructure & Security and is responsible for ensuring the efficient, secure, and reliable operation of the organization's hybrid environment, including M365 cloud services, on-premises infrastructure, networks, servers, programs, and office equipment.
This role exists to maintain high system availability and support daily business operations through responsive support and proactive IT management.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Maintain and troubleshoot on-premises servers, storage, and M365 cloud services, ensuring optimal performance, availability, and identity synchronization.
Deploy, configure, and secure endpoints using Microsoft Intune and Autopilot, supporting automation and zero-touch processes.
Implement and enforce security controls, including MFA, Conditional Access, and configuration policies, collaborating with Cyber Security, MSP, and SOC teams.
Provide Tier 2/3 escalation support for complex hardware, software, network, and cloud issues.
Monitor and maintain networking, VPNs, firewalls, routers, VLANs, and cloud connectivity to ensure stable access for all services.
Manage Active Directory and Entra ID, applying least-privilege access across applications and systems.
Support communication and collaboration tools, including VoIP, Teams, and SharePoint.
Work with vendors and MSPs to meet service level agreements and support projects and IT initiatives.
Maintain documentation, SOPs, ticketing, and IT asset management to ensure operational continuity.
Participate in after-hours support and travel as required.
Other duties as assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Strong technical knowledge of hybrid IT environments, including Windows Server (2016–2025), Active Directory, Certificate Services, DNS, IIS, Group Policy, SQL, and related technologies.
Thorough understanding of Microsoft 365 services, including Entra, Intune, Defender, SharePoint, Exchange Online, and Azure.
Solid understanding of networking concepts, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, SD-WAN/site-to-site VPNs, and next-generation firewalls/routers.
Security-first mindset with a clear understanding of the security implications of system changes and configurations.
Basic proficiency in PowerShell scripting for automation and task efficiency.
Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to address both legacy systems and emerging cloud technologies in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts into clear guidance for non-technical staff.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
University degree, college diploma, and/or trade certification and typically 9 or more years of related experience; or combination of formal education and experience.
