About
I am an independent artist currently finishing mixing and mastering of an upcoming album. Before release, I want to ensure that the distribution, publishing, metadata, and royalty infrastructure are correctly designed and structured.
This is not a playlist promotion or marketing role. I am looking for a consultant with strong knowledge of digital music distribution and rights administration.
The goal is to build a clean release pipeline before publication.
Scope of work:
– Advise on appropriate distributor selection
– ISRC and UPC strategy
– Metadata structure and best practices
– Publishing registration strategy (PRO setup and works registration)
– Neighboring rights registration (e.g., GVL, SoundExchange, PPL)
– Mechanical royalty considerations
– YouTube Content ID setup
– International royalty collection structure
– Review of ownership and split documentation
– Identification of potential rights or revenue risks
Requirements:
– Demonstrable experience in music publishing and digital distribution
– Clear understanding of master vs publishing royalties
– Experience working with PROs and neighboring rights organizations
– Ability to explain the process clearly and systematically
Initial engagement will be a paid consultation (1–3 hours) to map the release architecture. Ongoing support may follow depending on fit.
Ownership of masters and publishing will remain with me.
Contract duration of more than 6 months. with 40 hours per week.
