Border Control Specialist

This is a career ladder position with opportunities for advancement from GL-9 to GS-11 to GS-12.

• Detecting and questioning people suspected of violating immigration laws

Preventing and apprehending aliens at or near the borders requires strong observational skills, knowledge of terrain, and physical fitness. The agent must be able to interpret tracks, marks, and other evidence of illegal entry.

1. Farm checks are an essential part of border patrol duties. Agents check farms in rural areas near the border to ensure compliance with customs regulations.
