The role
As a Senior Software Developer (Front-End) in Seequent Labs, you will lead the design and development of innovative, cloud-native web application prototypes that bring cutting-edge research, AI capabilities, and customer feedback together. You will play a key role in creating new agentic geoscience applications, integrating AI seamlessly into scientific and technical workflows.
You will operate in a fast-paced, experimental environment where innovation, iteration, and learning are prioritized, and where not every prototype is expected to become a final product. Successful concepts, however, will transition into commercial products that directly contribute to Seequent's growth.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
Design and build interactive, modern application prototypes that showcase new Seequent Labs technologies to customers.
Create agentic prototypes that leverage internal and third-party AI models to enable intuitive and intelligent user workflows.
Develop seamless and intuitive UI interactions with complex 1D, 2D, and 3D data environments.
Rapidly iterate on UI/UX designs to test hypotheses with customers and internal stakeholders.
Build and maintain reusable UI and application prototyping frameworks to accelerate development across multiple cloud-native applications.
Develop and maintain the Seequent Labs Portal and associated front-end libraries.
Contribute to reusable coding templates that enable rapid innovation on top of core Seequent technologies.
Implement and uphold security best practices across web applications.
Actively participate in customer interviews, incorporating direct feedback into prototype development.
Work in a rapid prototyping environment, making pragmatic trade-offs to validate ideas quickly.
Champion a culture of innovation, experimentation, and curiosity within Seequent Labs and the wider organization.
Deliver prototypes with modern design, innovative workflows, and strong usability.
Ensure AI agents are seamlessly embedded into technical workflows.
Build prototypes that leverage existing code assets while creating reusable components for other teams.
Support the transition of successful prototypes into commercial products.
Essential knowledge, skills and experience:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
7+ years of experience in relevant software engineering roles.
Strong proficiency in TypeScript and React.
Experience designing and building modern, cloud-native web applications.
Knowledge of Python is considered an asset.
Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
Experience working in agile, experimental, or prototype-driven environments.
Strong understanding of front-end architecture, UI/UX principles, and reusable component design.
Ability to mentor and provide technical guidance to other team members (no direct reports).
Working Conditions:
This is a hybrid role based in Calgary or Toronto.
Seequent operates globally; flexibility in working hours may be required to collaborate across multiple time zones.
There are no direct reports for this role; however, technical leadership and mentorship are expected.
