The opportunity
Associated Engineering, a proudly Canadian, Employee-owned Company is seeking an experienced and dedicated Mechanical Group Manager to join our team in our Saskatoon office. In this role you will be responsible for managing all aspects of project execution, business development, and staff leadership within your service sector. This includes managing all technical and administrative aspects of the work being performed. You will also adhere to the company's and operation's goals, standards, and objectives.
What you'll do
Business:
- Pursuing new projects and clients for the group, while serving existing clients and maintaining strong relationships
- Leading marketing initiatives and identifying business opportunities for the group
- Identifying and preparing annual, quarterly, and monthly projections and reports
- Developing a group business plan annually, in cooperation with the Division Manager
- Guiding proposal development and decisions in conjunction with proposal staff, Project Managers, and others
- Maintaining effective professional contacts in the network and gathering market intelligence on business opportunities, including participation in industry associations
Operations:
- Working with the Division Manager, General Manager, Vice Presidents, and other senior staff, to implement AE initiatives
- Acquire and manage projects. Coordinate multidisciplinary project teams to deliver services to a range of clients
- Monitoring effective use of AE tools by staff, such as PIOs, CRM, QA/QC, and others
- Remaining up to date on industry and company standards and procedures
- Performing financial analysis and monitoring and controlling associated risks
- Providing input to the Division Manager and General Manager regarding the management of the operation
- Effectively and selectively getting involved in project management and engineering while balancing operational management activities
Staffing:
- Assigning staff to projects based on workload, and reviewing staffing levels
- Interviewing, selecting, and onboarding new staff to the group
- Recommending staff promotions, classification changes, and salary adjustments for those within your group, based on conducted career and performance reviews
- Communicating with staff via informal and formal meetings on a regular basis
- Providing timely, constructive feedback to staff, providing recognition, and their furthering ongoing growth and development
Does this sound like you?
Candidates should have the following qualifications:
- Undergraduate degree in Engineering OR Diploma in Engineering Technology, from an accredited post-secondary institution (Education requirement may vary depending on the status of the successful candidate)
- Minimum of 7+ years of progressive experience in the engineering consulting industry
- Proven experience in the areas of project management, marketing, mentoring, and financial analysis
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Committed team player and highly motivated
- Self-driven and desire for career advancement
- Willingness and ability to travel within SK as required
