Role - General Manager
The General Manager (GM), is responsible for revenue and profitability targets for St. Augustine's. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in developing and implementing strategies to drive revenue growth, enhance customer satisfaction, and maximize operational efficiency within our restaurant. The General Manager will drive to ensure labour and liquor costs are within target. The GM will drive revenue-generating activities in the restaurant, including promotions and events. This position will work in partnership with our Head Chef to deliver excellent experiences to our guests. Our General Manager manages a team of restaurant staff and contributes to creating a safe and inclusive workspace for all St. Augustine's team members and guests.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop and execute comprehensive revenue generation strategies tailored to the Pub's unique offerings and target market, encompassing both short-term & long-term goals.
- Streamline operational processes and help develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures to enhance productivity, minimize waste, and optimize resource allocation in alignment with revenue goals.
- Create effective promotions and events that attract new patrons, retain existing customers, and stimulate repeat business.
- Work closely with the Leadership Team and ownership to create revenue forecasts, manage budgets, and analyze financial reports to ensure revenue targets are met or exceeded.
- Manage a team of staff, including scheduling, training, general supervision, performance management and career development.
- Regulate inventory and maintenance of par levels for items used within the restaurant.
- Provide excellent customer service to guests and exceptional leadership to employees.
- Enforce and monitor all health, safety, and sanitation standards in the Pub..
- Guide the team to handle guest complaints and act as a point of escalation when required.
- Work closely with the Back of House team to provide a seamless experience.
- Responsible for completing bi-weekly payroll, including payout of cash tips and submission of credit and debit tips to Accounting.
- Oversee all opening and closing duties are completed correctly and that cleanliness and maintenance are maintained.
- Read and respond to any work-related emails and voicemails daily.
- Managing and updating tap menus, including adding fresh releases in preparation for release dates.
- Maintain up-to-date pricing and inventory for all third-party delivery app services.
- Track and update profit and loss reports daily and send them to the Ownership weekly.
- Submit month-end sales and tax reports
- Completing inventory for the Restaurant and invoicing all purchases.
- Assist with all Server and supervisor duties as needed.
- Contribute to a positive work environment, fostering teamwork and collaboration among staff and striving to build strong team morale.
Qualifications
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in the food and beverage industry is required.
- A minimum of 5 years of supervisory experience is required for external applicants.
- Must be of legal drinking age and have a valid serving it right certificate
- Strong leadership and management skills, with experience managing teams of 20+ staff
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with guests, staff, and vendors
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with experience developing and implementing practical solutions to complex issues
- Proven track record of achieving financial targets, with experience managing budgets, analyzing financial data, and making data-driven decisions
- Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment
- Experience in using restaurant software, included but not limited to Point of Sale and shift scheduling software.
- Knowledge of and experience using Excel and email platforms. Knowledge of the Google Suite platform an asset.
- Experience onboarding new staff
- Ability to stand for long periods, move/walk consistently throughout your shift and lift up to 50 pounds
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays
Educational Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in hospitality management, business administration, or a related field preferred

- Knowledge of business operations, including profits and loss methodology
- Knowledge and passion of craft beer, brewing processes, and industry trends
- Experience creating employee communications and SOPs
- Experience assisting in revenue-generating events and promotions
