About
In collaboration with an interdisciplinary health care team, the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) practices within their full scope providing direct care to patients with neurological impairments on the stroke, brain injury, spinal cord injury rehabilitation teams. The LPN assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates care for patients and families with the purpose of promoting, maintaining, or restoring health and preventing illness, injury and disability while facilitating the rehabilitation and recovery of function for their patients. Description:
As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team, utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving, and decision making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, and demonstrated skill level, in alignment with applicable legislation, standards of practice, policies, and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, high quality, patient and family centred care while reflecting the shared vision and values of the organization.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active, or eligible for, registration and a practice permit as a Licensed Practical Nurse with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses and Health Care Aides of Alberta (CLHA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:
Within the last 5 years, at least 1 year of experience in a Neuro or Neuro Rehab department, or at least 2 years of experience in an Acute Care setting. Demonstrated effective time management and organizational skills. Proven initiative, analytical thinking, and conflict resolution skills. Proven ability to work autonomously and collaboratively within a healthcare team environment. Demonstrates excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Demonstrates ability to work as a member of a team and to give, request and accept direction as required. Ability to perform all duties in accordance with related legislation. Physically able to perform all assigned tasks: Lifting and transferring patients as required, Pushing and pulling items of, approximately 50 kgs, reaching horizontally or above the head, Walking, standing and/or sitting for extended periods.
Preferred Qualifications:
Demonstrated continuing education in the area of neuroscience is preferred.
