Red River is seeking a highly skilled Enterprise Network Engineer with strong expertise in Cisco networking technologies to support a large Navy program. This role is critical to the stability, security, and performance of a complex enterprise infrastructure that directly contributes to the mission success of our Navy customer.
The ideal candidate will have a deep foundation in Cisco routing and switching within enterprise environments and a strong desire to grow into Cisco Application Centric Infrastructure as our data center strategy evolves. Candidates who bring curiosity, initiative, and a commitment to continuous learning will excel in this position.
Key Responsibilities
Design, implement, and maintain enterprise network infrastructure with a focus on Cisco routing and switching platforms.
Support data center networking initiatives including opportunities to learn and advance into Cisco ACI architectures.
Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize network performance across LAN, WAN, WLAN, and data center environments.
Implement and maintain network security controls such as firewalls, VPNs, segmentation, ACLs, and identity-based policies.
Assist with the development of standardized configurations, network templates, and deployment methodologies to ensure consistency and scalability.
Collaborate with systems, security, and operations teams to integrate networking solutions in a cohesive enterprise environment.
Participate in network incident response, root cause analysis, and service restoration activities.
Maintain documentation for network designs, diagrams, configurations, and operational procedures.
Stay current with emerging Cisco technologies and industry best practices, especially in data center and SDN domains.
Support compliance with organizational standards, regulatory requirements, and security frameworks, including those relevant to Navy and DoD environments.
Required Qualifications
Must have an active DoW Secret Clearance.
8 or more years of hands-on experience as a network engineer in an enterprise environment.
Strong proficiency with Cisco routing and switching technologies including Catalyst, Nexus, IOS, and IOS XE.
Solid understanding of core networking concepts such as TCP IP, OSPF, STP, VLANs, Inter-VRF routing, multicast, and network segmentation.
Experience supporting enterprise firewalls, VPN technologies, and identity-driven network security solutions.
Familiarity with data center networking concepts and environments.
Strong troubleshooting skills including packet analysis and performance diagnostics.
Experience developing or maintaining network configuration templates.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively across diverse technical teams.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Cisco certifications such as CCNP Enterprise or equivalent experience.
Exposure to or strong interest in Cisco ACI, software defined networking, and modern data center fabric designs.
Experience with Cisco ISE or other NAC solutions.
Experience supporting hybrid cloud or virtualized environments such as VMware or Hyper V.
Familiarity with automation tools including Ansible or Python.
Knowledge of Zero Trust networking principles.
Experience supporting Navy, DoD, or regulated environments.
