We are seeking passionate game designers with a deep understanding of Unreal Engine 5 to instruct our Game Design with Unreal Engine summer programs to learners aged Students will be learning the key concepts of game design and prototyping using industry-standard tools and processes. Learners will acquire the foundational knowledge and skills necessary to create their own games using Unreal Engine and Blueprints. The ideal instructor candidates for this course should possess a strong foundation in Unreal Launcher, Unreal Engine 5.2, Figma and game design fundamentals, as well as some teaching, TA or training experience.
Game Design with Unreal Engine is offered once at U of T Hart House campus. The Instructor hired to teach this course must be available from 9:00am-3:30pm MT from July 13-24, (plus 1 week in June for training).
Candidates selected for interviews will be contacted starting in February Responsibilities
- Lead engaging and comprehensive classroom sessions with teen learners following the Game Design with Unreal Engine course curriculum.
- Provide constructive feedback, guidance, and mentorship to students as they ideate, develop, and iterate on their 3rd Person Platformer Game project.
- Showcase proficiency in Unreal Engine 5, visual scripting with Blueprints, version control systems like Git, and game design concepts.
- Share real-world experiences, case studies, and insights to offer students a holistic understanding of the field.
- Grade assessments that accurately measure student understanding and progress within the course.
Requirements
- Availability to teach during the day in July 2026 (dates and times listed above)
- Previous professional experience in game design roles utilizing Unreal Engine.
- Graduate of Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, current Master's degree student in Computer Science or graduate of Circuit Stream Game Design Bootcamp or similar programs.
- Proficiency in Unreal Engine 5 and Figma.
- Strong presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to convey complex concepts in an accessible and engaging manner.
- Innate logical thinking and the ability to inspire and nurture logical thinking in students.
- A passion for guiding and mentoring students, fostering their growth, and providing meaningful feedback.
- Willingness to adapt to evolving curriculum needs, industry trends, and emerging technologies.
- A collaborative attitude, eager to contribute to a positive and supportive team environment.
- A proactive attitude towards ongoing professional development and a willingness to learn and stay up-to-date with industry advancements.
- A strong portfolio of relevant work to showcase your skills and experience.
- Previous experience teaching coding to kids/teens or experience as a teaching assistant (TA) for university or college level courses
