Position: Network Engineer Location: Wokingham (3 days onsite, 2 days from home) Day Rate: £460 p.d inside IR35 SC Clearance Required We're supporting a central government department seeking an experienced Network Engineer to deliver secure, reliable network services across a complex environment. Role Overview: Design, configure, and deploy LAN/WAN/WLAN/VPN solutions. Monitor and optimise network performance. Implement and maintain firewalls, IDS/IPS, and access controls. Maintain accurate network documentation and diagrams. Collaborate with IT teams and vendors on infrastructure projects. Perform hardware/software upgrades and patching. Respond to network outages and security incidents. Skills & Experience: Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, OSPF, BGP. Experience with Cisco, Juniper, or similar network hardware. Familiarity with firewalls and security appliances. Experience with monitoring tools (SolarWinds, Nagios). Cloud networking exposure (AWS/Azure) is a plus.
