About the Role:
As a Data Scientist supporting our Federal government client, you will be trusted to support the development of the Data Strategy, articulating how the organization will accelerate the adoption of data, analytics, and artificial intelligence (AI) to enable joint operational situational awareness and data-driven decision-making. In this role, you will lead advanced analytics efforts, enhance enterprise data capabilities, and transform complex datasets into actionable insights that support mission outcomes.
Key Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
Develop predictive, descriptive, diagnostic, and prescriptive models, including forecasting, classification, clustering, and anomaly detection
Deliver analytical insights using Power BI, Python visualization libraries, and interactive dashboards
Enhance existing data pipelines to restructure, clean, and transform both quantitative datasets and large volumes of qualitative/unstructured data (e.g., survey responses) into analysis-ready outputs and succinct, accurate visualizations for integration into the enterprise database on a monthly basis
Enhance and develop new business intelligence data visualizations to provide the right information at the right time for leadership to have joint operational situational awareness and make informed decisions upon completion of all dashboards request and upon request, usually on monthly basis.
Develop areas within the current data management and exploratory analyses efforts where AI/ML will expand capabilities and deliver performance enhancements.
Deliver spatial data science solutions to extract deeper insights to uncover hidden patterns and improve predictive modeling.
Operate and maintain the Palantir or equivalent foundry platform.
Develop scripts to curate select datasets for integration into business intelligence data products
Enhance and maintain data pipelines used to restructure, clean, and transform datasets for integration into the enterprise data warehouse
Design, enhance, and develop business intelligence dashboards and data visualizations to provide leadership with timely, actionable insights and joint operational situational awareness
Lead exploratory data analysis efforts to identify trends, risks, and opportunities across complex datasets
Identify and develop opportunities within existing data management and analytics efforts where AI/ML can expand capabilities and deliver performance enhancements
Deliver spatial data science solutions to extract deeper insights, uncover hidden patterns, and improve predictive modeling
Leverage advanced analytics and visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, ArcGIS, Palantir or equivalent platforms) to support decision-making and performance tracking
Translate complex analytical findings into clear, concise reports and presentations for technical and non-technical stakeholders
Ensure analytics products meet federal standards for quality, accuracy, documentation, and usability
Provide technical leadership and guidance on analytics best practices across data initiatives

Location:
You will work as part of a primarily remote team, with occasional in-person meetings at headquarters locations in Washington, DC; Reston, VA; Arlington, VA; or Boulder, CO.
Required Experience/Skills:
A Bachelor’s degree and 8 years of relevant professional experience
Demonstrated experience supporting advanced data analytics initiatives, preferably in a federal or consulting environment
Advanced proficiency in Python and SQL, including use of scientific computing and modeling libraries (e.g., Pandas, NumPy, SciPy, scikit-learn, PyTorch, TensorFlow)
Hands-on experience with Databricks for data engineering, distributed processing, feature engineering, and model development
Experience working with large, complex, structured and semi-structured datasets in cloud-based or enterprise data platforms
Proficiency in data curation, transformation, and pipeline development using Python within modern IDEs (e.g., Visual Studio Code, PyCharm)
Experience using DevOps/Git-based repositories for version control, CI/CD workflows, code review, and production deployment
Demonstrated ability to design, validate, document, and defend analytical methodologies, assumptions, model performance, and results
Experience leveraging LLMs and AI techniques for natural language processing, automation, and decision-support use cases
Proficiency in data curation, transformation, and pipeline development using Python within modern IDEs (e.g., Visual Studio Code, PyCharm)
Experience using DevOps/Git-based repositories for version control, CI/CD workflows, code review, and production deployment
Strong experience working with relational databases and data warehousing technologies using SQL and optimized query patterns
Experience delivering analytical insights using Power BI, Python visualization libraries, and interactive dashboards
Experience with geospatial analytics and visualization using ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Online, or similar platforms
Ability to translate technical findings into clear, executive-level insights and decision-ready outputs
Experience contributing to enterprise analytics ecosystems integrating Databricks, BI platforms, and AI/ML workflows
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex data clearly and effectively
US citizenship and the ability to pass public trust clearance or suitability
Preferred Experience/Skills:
Experience operating or supporting Palantir Foundry or similar data foundry platforms
Exposure to ML Ops practices, model monitoring, retraining pipelines, and governance

Salary:
Approximate Salary Estimate: $120,000 - $145,000 annually
