Position Overview:
Reporting to the VP Claims (Claims Team Lead), the Claims Analyst will provide support in the broking of Property, Casualty and Specialty Casualty Reinsurance Claims, and Binding Authority business. Using their strong insurance/reinsurance technical knowledge, the successful candidate will analyze and evaluate claims data being reported by Clients for processing according to contract terms and guidelines and following established company procedures. He/she will assure the delivery of strong technical servicing of clients' accounts from a claim perspective.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Primary mandate is to provide support in the broking of Property, Casualty, and Specialty Casualty Reinsurance Claims.
- Analyze, evaluate, and process excess, proportional and facultative reinsurance claims according to contract terms and guidelines, and established company processes.
- Analyze, evaluate, and process Binding Authority insurance claims according to contract terms and guidelines, and established company processes.
- Liaise with clients and markets regarding claims queries and issues as mandated.
- Analyze and evaluate contract wordings in order to determine coverage and indemnity owed to the loss according to the terms and conditions of the original policy and reinsurance contract.
- Maintain follow-up records and review claim files to expedite the reporting of developments according to contract reporting guidelines.
- Timely performance of technical functions, drawing on technical experience and internal resources to meet department objectives and expectations, according to SLA's.
- Maintain claim files following established company procedures and update information in the company database.
- Populate reports, spreadsheets and other related business material as required.
- Ensure files are kept in good, current order, with appropriate and thorough documentation.
- Assist brokers and senior management with the preparation of claim data for client presentations.
- Work with IBA/Finance and Internal Operations to ensure prompt payment of claims.
- Work on Claims-related projects as required.
Skills, Experience, and Education:
- Preference to College or University degree and/or Insurance Institute Courses, CIP or FCIP designation.
- Minimum 3 years of claims experience at a reinsurance or insurance broker/company.
- Reinsurance experience preferred.
- Possess a thorough knowledge of all types of proportional, excess of loss and facultative reinsurance contracts.
- Knowledge of the London Market processes for DXC (formerly Xchanging) Systems preferred.
- Excellent computer skills and technical skills. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access)
with advanced Excel mastery
particularly in the areas of formula and pivot tables. - Strong communication (both written and verbal), analytical, diplomacy and negotiation skills with professionals within and outside the industry.

- Proven effective prioritization, organizational and time management skills.
- Flexible and adaptable to changing multiple priorities. Able to make effective use of the time and resources available.
