Job Description

Ready to build your career? We want to hear from you.

Pomerleau is looking for a passionate architect or engineer ready to join a dynamic team of architects and engineers, members of the OAQ and OIQ, working on design management from pre‑construction through to construction.

Joining Pomerleau as a professional means shaping major, high‑impact projects delivered through collaborative and alternative methods—from concept to completion.

In this role, the Design Manager oversees one or more projects and supervises the multidisciplinary team of coordinators assigned to them. They are responsible for the overall design, across all disciplines, from architecture to engineering. Being a Design Manager at Pomerleau means maintaining a strategic, high‑level perspective.

What you will do

  • Lead the design strategy by advising and influencing stakeholders, including construction and estimating teams
  • Use creativity and technical knowledge to challenge, guide, and validate conceptual solutions
  • Manage architects, engineers, and external consultants; establish the design schedule and structure deliverables
  • Optimize design, identify risks, and propose innovative solutions
  • Ensure constructability by serving as a key interface between design and construction teams
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with public and private clients in various sectors: healthcare, institutional, community, transportation, and more
  • Work in an "integrated team" mode within a flexible, mobile environment: Pomerleau office, project office, or construction site

This role could be for you if you have

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture or Engineering
  • 7+ years of relevant experience
  • Excellent understanding of virtual modeling approaches (BIM–VDC)
  • Proficiency in English (an asset)

Benefits

  • RRSP with up to 5% employer matching

  • Hybrid work model for corporate roles

  • Employee stock ownership program
  • Career growth through real development opportunities
  • Transit pass reimbursement — get to work for free
  • Minimum 4 weeks of vacation from day one
