About
The Specialist, Solution and System Integration is responsible for ensuring the successful deployment of advanced infrastructure, telecommunications, application, and technology solutions across CN. In this role, the Specialist ensures that project teams deliver solutions that fully meet business requirements while supporting the continuous evolution of CN's Information & Technology landscape. Serving both internal I&T partners and operational business units, the Specialist also contributes to quality assurance and operational excellence by developing test code, optimizing monitoring tools, and ensuring the reliability, scalability, and performance of integrated systems.
Main Responsibilities
Plan, design, and execute comprehensive testing strategies covering both functional and non‑functional components of solutions under development. This includes ensuring test plans align with business requirements, architectural guidelines, and operational constraints.
Apply test‑driven development (TDD) principles and DevOps best practices, including Continuous Integration (CI), Continuous Delivery (CD), and automated quality gates, to ensure rapid and reliable software delivery.
Develop and implement scalable test automation frameworks and optimization strategies that enhance testing accuracy, reduce execution time, and increase overall delivery efficiency.
Collaborate closely with stakeholders, Business Analysts, and cross‑functional teams to collect and refine requirements, translate them into technical specifications, and contribute to solution design aligned with organizational goals.
Create, maintain, and enhance automation scripts and testing frameworks using industry‑standard tools and scripting languages to support end‑to‑end validation across environments.
Document processes, workflows, configurations, and technical designs in a clear and structured manner to support operational excellence, knowledge transfer, and auditability.
Design and deploy solutions using cloud platforms and DevOps toolchains, ensuring alignment with Infrastructure‑as‑Code (IaC) and Configuration Management principles for increased reliability and repeatability.
Participate in peer code reviews and provide expert technical guidance to promote high-quality development practices, standardization, and continuous improvement across teams.
Leverage data analytics and monitoring insights to inform solution design, identify improvement opportunities, and support decision‑making processes that enhance performance, stability, and safety.
Working Conditions
The role has standard working conditions in an office environment with a regular workweek from Monday to Friday and is eligible to participate in CN's hybrid work model. Due to the nature of the role, the incumbent must be able to meet tight deadlines, handle pressure, and stress.
Requirements
Experience
Application Development
Minimum 5 years of professional experience with a prominent focus on automation skills
Experience integrating data services and APIs
Familiarity with analytics pipelines*
Any background for these above would be considered as an asset
Education/Certification/Designation
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience in a related field.

Knowledge in logs management, application monitoring, infrastructure monitoring
Strong Knowledge of data science *
