Cloud Infrastructure & Operations Administer, monitor, and optimize application systems hosted in AWS and Azure environments Manage Windows Server environments including patching, configuration, and performance tuning Deploy, configure, and maintain serverless services such as AWS Lambda, Azure Functions, API Gateway, and related event-driven architectures Implement and maintain infrastructure-as-code using tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or ARM templates Monitor system health, availability, and performance using cloud-native and third-party tools
Database Administration
Support relational and non-relational databases including SQL Server, RDS, Azure SQL, and DynamoDB Perform routine database maintenance including backups, restores, performance tuning, and capacity planning Collaborate with development teams on database design, optimization, and migration efforts
Security & Compliance
Support Authorization to Operate (ATO) efforts by preparing documentation, implementing controls, and coordinating with security assessors Track, manage, and remediate Plan of Action and Milestones (POA&M) items to closure Execute and analyze vulnerability scans using tools such as Nessus, Qualys, or AWS Inspector; coordinate remediation activities Implement and maintain security configurations aligned with NIST 800-53, FedRAMP, and agency-specific requirements Participate in continuous monitoring activities and support audit readiness
Collaboration & Documentation
Work closely with development, security, and project management teams to ensure system reliability and compliance Create and maintain system documentation including architecture diagrams, runbooks, and standard operating procedures Provide technical guidance and support during incident response and root cause analysis
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, cybersecurity, or a related field Equivalent combination of education, certifications, and relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
Required Qualifications
5+ years of experience in system administration with at least 3 years supporting cloud environments (AWS and/or Azure) Demonstrated experience supporting federal government systems and familiarity with ATO processes Hands-on experience managing POA&Ms and coordinating vulnerability remediation efforts Strong proficiency with Windows Server administration (2019/2022) Experience with database administration (SQL Server, cloud-managed database services) Working knowledge of serverless architectures and managed cloud services Familiarity with vulnerability scanning tools and interpreting scan results Understanding of federal security frameworks including NIST 800-53, FedRAMP, and FISMA Ability to work for any employer in the US without sponsorship This position will be subject to a government "Position of Trust" (6C) and background investigation.
Preferred Qualifications
AWS certifications (Solutions Architect, SysOps Administrator) or Azure certifications (Administrator Associate, Security Engineer) Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevSecOps practices CompTIA Security+, CISSP, or equivalent security certification PowerShell scripting proficiency for automation and administration tasks
