Purpose
Provide day-to-day support, maintenance, installation, and upgrades for operational on-board technology and field network systems across heavy equipment, including haul trucks, loaders, excavators, and drills, as well as the field infrastructure that supports them.
This is a field-based operational technology role involving hands-on work on active sites, supporting on-board systems, operational field networks, and fixed and mobile assets such as communication towers, solar trailers, and network cabinets.
Core responsibilities include supporting fleet management, fatigue monitoring, collision detection, telemetry, and GPS augmentation systems; diagnosing electro-mechanical and low-voltage issues; maintaining radios and Blast PED systems; and providing Level 1 and 2 support across equipment and operational infrastructure.
Responsibilities
Safety and Regulatory / Policy Compliance
Adhere to the company's Occupational Health and Safety policy and procedures.
Consistently demonstrate and encourage safe work practices, particularly when working on or around heavy equipment.
Support regulatory and corporate compliance initiatives as they pertain to information, infrastructure, and technology assets.

Field Technology Support
Provide hands-on support, maintenance, installation, and upgrades for on-board technology systems in heavy equipment such as haul trucks, loaders, excavators, drills and a variety of other pieces of equipment
Diagnose and repair electro-mechanical issues related to on-board systems.
Troubleshoot and repair low-voltage electrical systems related to on-board systems.
Configure and support onboard technologies, including:
Fleet management systems
GPS augmentation systems
Fatigue monitoring and collision detection
Telemetry and wireless data transmission units
Blast PED systems
Two-way radio and cap lamp systems
Perform new installations and ensure proper function and integration with back-end systems.
Operational Field Network & Infrastructure Support
Provide hands-on support, monitoring, and maintenance of operational field network infrastructure including:
Communication towers, solar trailers and mobile network assets
Fixed operational network cabinets, industrial switches/routers and radios
Field-deployed wireless access points and point-to-point radio systems
Install, configure, and troubleshoot operational field network components, including:
Layer 1-3 infrastructure
Network equipment supporting fleet management, telemetry
Power systems associated with the operational network infrastructure, including solar and ups systems.
Ensure performance and optimization of the field technology networks
Incident Management
Respond to and resolve Level 1 and 2 incidents related to onboard and field network technologies.
Track issues, coordinate resolutions, and escalate when necessary to supervisory or vendor support.
Execute change and update processes for field technologies and related infrastructure.
Monitor and maintain service availability and performance for fleet and communications systems.
5. Request Fulfillment
Process and fulfill requests for two-way radio programming and system updates.
Configure and activate additional services within onboard and wireless technology platforms.
Support the installation and configuration of systems related to drilling, hauling, and loading operations.
Assist with deployment of new field technologies and network assets as operational requirements evolve.
Asset Management
Maintain and manage inventory of onboard technology and operational computing assets.
Coordinate with service providers to ensure timely repair, replacement, and preventive maintenance of field-deployed hardware.
Ensure proper documentation of installations, updates, and configurations.
Follow all required safety procedures when servicing or accessing equipment and electronics in the field.
Training and Education
Diploma or Degree, preferred in Mechanic, Electrical/Engineering Technologist, or related
Valid "G" driver's license
3 to 5 years of experience in technical or field support roles related to technology and heavy equipment.
Broad knowledge of all technology considerations (performance, scalability, maintainability, deployment, operations, technology infrastructure)
Skilled in troubleshooting and repairing on-board technology & low voltage DC systems on heavy equipment by following schematics and wiring diagrams, with a strong understanding of communication concepts and problem-solving to deliver effective, solution-based outcomes
Experience providing field-based support, installation, or diagnostics on mobile equipment is highly preferred.
Experience supporting operational or field-based network infrastructure
Foundational knowledge of OT networking concepts
Understanding of how mobile equipment systems interface with field networks and back-end infrastructure.
Effective communication skills, both oral and written, with vendors, service providers, colleagues, clients, and customers at all levels.
Ability to plan, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks effectively.
Competence in incident tracking and resolution.
Prior mining or industrial experience
