About
As a Customs and Border Protection Officer, you will play a vital role in safeguarding the nation's borders while facilitating legitimate trade and travel. With your expertise in enforcing customs, immigration, and agriculture laws, you will contribute to maintaining national security while promoting economic growth.
You will be responsible for conducting inspections of individuals and conveyances, determining admissibility of foreign nationals, preventing smuggling activities, and participating in training programs to enhance your skills. Your work environment may vary from port facilities to remote border areas requiring adaptability to diverse situations.
Typical assignments include:
- Enforcing regulations on importing/exporting goods.
- Utilizing intelligence techniques for threat assessments.
- Conducting interviews with suspected violators.
You qualify as a GS-9 grade officer by possessing specialized experience or education that includes detaining violators using proper law enforcement methods, enforcing import/export laws & regulations.
A master's degree (or higher) OR two years progressively higher-level graduate studies leading toward such degree can substitute up to one year of specialized experience.
