About

About Us

At Open Farm we are transforming the way people feed their pets, with a focus on producing premium, healthy food and treats, all ethically sourced from farm-to-bowl. Headquartered in Toronto and with team members across the US, Open Farm is one of the fastest growing CPG companies in North America. We believe that the best foods are made with consciously sourced, top-quality ingredients from farmers and fisheries who believe in doing good for all animals and the environment.

Creative Director

Why this role exists

Open Farm is a premium pet food brand built on trust, transparency, and doing things the right way, always. We're entering a new phase of growth where creative excellence isn't just about beautiful storytelling, it's also about driving clarity, speed, and results across the entire funnel. This role exists to own and connect our narrative end‑to‑end: from the first moment someone meets Open Farm, to the point they choose us, stay with us, and advocate for us. You'll ensure our creative work is emotionally resonant, unmistakably Open Farm, and measurably effective. This is not a "big idea, hand it off" role. This is where strategy meets execution. You will think, make, test, refine, and launch.

The role

The Creative Director is responsible for shaping and stewarding Open Farm's creative direction across all channels and funnel stages: brand, social, paid, owned, and commerce. Reporting to the VP of Marketing and sitting within the Brand team, you'll define the creative north star and ensure it shows up consistently, clearly, and powerfully everywhere our brand lives. You'll partner closely with Brand, Growth, DTC, Social, Retail marketing and external partners to turn insight into work that performs. You are equal parts creative leader, strategic thinker, and hands‑on doer. You care deeply about craft, but you care just as much about impact.

What you'll own

Brand narrative & creative direction

  • Own and evolve Open Farm's brand narrative, voice, and creative principles across all channels.
  • Define the non‑negotiables (tone, visual language, messaging guardrails) that ensure consistency without killing speed.
  • Ensure every piece of creative ladders into a clear, cohesive brand story.
  • Strategy that turns into execution

  • Translate customer, business, and cultural insights into clear creative direction and concepts.
  • Develop campaign ideas, story arcs, and content frameworks that scale across funnel stages.
  • Actively contribute to concepting, writing, and creative problem‑solving — this is a hands‑on role.
  • Performance‑minded creativity

  • Partner with Growth and DTC teams to ensure creative work drives attention, consideration, and conversion.
  • Use performance data, testing results, and platform insights to refine creative direction and drive execution.
  • Balance brand building with commercial outcomes — and know when to push each.
  • Social & content leadership

  • Set the creative direction for social storytelling across platforms, ensuring it ladders into the broader brand narrative.
  • Partner closely with Social and Community teams to guide narratives, formats, and creative guardrails — balancing cultural relevance with brand consistency.
  • Contribute to social concepting, scripting, and storytelling when needed, without owning day-to-day posting or community management.
  • Help shape high-velocity content approaches that drive reach, engagement, and follower growth.
  • Ensure social content reflects platform-specific behaviors, trends, and algorithms while remaining unmistakably Open Farm.
  • Creative leadership & collaboration

  • Provide clear creative direction and feedback to in‑house creators across paid, email, web, and social.
  • Brief and collaborate with external agencies, freelancers, and production partners.
  • Build simple, scalable creative systems that raise quality and increase speed.
  • What success looks like

  • Open Farm creative is deeply on brand and effective - It catches attention of consumers (drives fame), tells the right stories and drive broader engagement.
  • Open Farm's creative feels unmistakable, consistent, and differentiated.
  • Teams move faster because direction is clear.
  • Campaigns and content perform — creatively and commercially.
  • Creative decisions are grounded in insight, not opinion.
  • The brand shows up with warmth, confidence, wit and conviction — without losing rigor.
  • What we're looking for

    Experience

  • 7–10+ years in creative direction, brand storytelling, or copy‑led creative roles.
  • Experience in CPG, lifestyle, or mission‑driven brands (DTC experience strongly preferred).
  • Proven work across multiple channels and funnel stages.
  • Capabilities

  • Strong conceptual thinker who can turn ideas into real, shippable work.
  • Deep understanding of digital, social, and performance creative.
  • Comfortable using data and insights to inform creative decisions.
  • Able to clearly articulate creative rationale to senior stakeholders.
  • Ways of working

  • Hands‑on, pragmatic, and accountable.
  • Collaborative, clear, and direct communicator.
  • High standards for craft — and equally high standards for impact.
  • Thrives in a fast‑moving environment where priorities evolve.
  • Why you'll love it here

You'll have real ownership, real influence, and the opportunity to shape how a premium brand shows up in the world — creatively and commercially. You'll work with people who care deeply, move quickly, and expect great work. If you're excited by the challenge of building a brand narrative that performs as hard as it inspires, this role is for you.
