Job Complexity

  • Interprets complex blueprints, technical drawings, and work orders to determine fabrication requirements

  • Plans and executes fabrication processes, selecting appropriate tools and techniques

  • Problem-solves design and fabrication challenges, often creating custom solutions

Responsibilities/Influence

  • Cuts, shapes, and forms metal materials using tools such as shears, saws, drills, and welding equipment

  • Performs precise measurements and calculations to ensure accuracy in fabrication

  • Collaborates with engineers, designers, and other craftsmen on projects

  • Maintains equipment and ensures a safe working environment

Scope and Impact

  • Directly responsible for the quality and structural integrity of fabricated products

  • Contributes to project timelines and overall production efficiency

Requirements

Experience

  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in metal fabrication or related field

  • Proven track record of completing complex fabrication projects

  • Experience with various welding techniques (MIG, TIG, Stick) preferred

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent required

  • Vocational training or technical certificate in metal fabrication, welding, or related field preferred

  • Relevant apprenticeship completion is a plus

Technical Knowledge

  • Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints and technical drawings

  • Strong knowledge of metallurgy and material properties

  • Skilled in using various fabrication tools and equipment, including CNC machines

  • Understanding of quality control processes and inspection techniques

  • Knowledge of industry safety standards and OSHA regulations

  • Basic computer skills for operating modern fabrication equipment
