Position Overview

Apex Precision Inc. is a leader in the field of precision component manufacturing. The CNC machinist and setup will be able to thrive in a dynamic and stimulating environment. He/she will work closely with the production supervisor, programmers, and inspectors to develop and deliver precision parts within the prescribed deadlines.

Machine Setup

  • Read & understand job requirements & drawings (inhouse & customer documentation)
  • Prepare machines, required tools, listed fixtures, equipment and material as listed in drawings and set-up sheet
  • Load and read program, perform basic modifications if necessary

Machining

  • Inspect machine condition and ensure scheduled maintenance has been completed before it is put into operation
  • Operate CNC to machine parts as per drawing
  • Adjust speeds and feeds to optimize manufacturing times and apply tool compensation as necessary
  • For each new set-up, provide the first conforming machined product to inspection for verification
  • Deburr machined parts per drawing as required
  • Ensure that parts are packaged accordingly to prevent damage during internal movements
  • Return all tools to their pre-determined location for future use
  • Complete all parts as per internal requirements
  • Clean up left over material and clean work area as required
  • Complete all operations in a safe manner
  • Support the organization in the development of safe manufacturing processes

Administration and communication

  • Enter production times and quantities in JobBOSS.
  • Stamp and fill out work order (traveler) once traveler steps are complete.
  • Suggest improvements to manufacturing method on provided set-up improvement sheet.
  • Record changes made to the CNC programming in the setup folder.
  • Communicate job instructions to the machinist who is taking over the following shift
  • Complete all other tasks as required by your leadership

Production support

  • Deburr machined parts per drawing as required
  • Clean machined parts as deemed necessary
  • Tools: prepare, clean, organized tools for assigned WO or as support to the team

 Qualifications

  • At least 5 years of experience in CNC machining. Experience in the metalworking or aerospace industry is an asset.
  • Must be capable of doing complex setups
  • DEP in machining or a related field.
  • Ability to read technical drawings.
  • Team player.
  • Ability to work independently
