Avena Foods is actively seeking an HR Coordinator to join our team in Regina.
The HR Coordinator will support Avena in managing human resources processes. This role focuses on HR operations including recruitment, onboarding, employee records, payroll support, policy administration, and HR-related project work. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and able to handle confidential information with discretion. This position is for a 10-month term.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the development and implementation of HR policies, ensuring compliance with federal and provincial laws, including maintaining Avena's Employee Handbook and Code of Conduct. This includes preparing regular reports to ensure adherence to government regulations.
- Create and maintain up-to-date job descriptions for all Avena locations, including reviewing and aligning roles with the National Occupational Classification (NOC) codes.
- Support hiring managers in the recruitment process, including drafting and posting job descriptions, scheduling interviews, conducting pre-screening, performing reference/employment checks, and preparing offer letters.
- Manage onboarding for new hires, including policy review, benefit and payroll enrollment forms.
- Maintain accurate personnel files including maintaining organizational charts.
- Provide backup support to the Manager, Payroll and Admin as needed.
- Assist with HR-related projects, such as process improvements, employee engagement initiatives, or special HR programs.
- Assist with the review of HR processes and provide recommendations for improvement.
- Perform other HR-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor's degree/diploma in Human Resources, Administration, or related field.
- Previous HR experience, ideally in recruitment, onboarding, payroll support, and project work.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Proficiency in HR software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with multiple departments, this would include using various forms of communication such as email, phone and video calls.
- Ability to multi-task and meet various deadlines.
