Blow Molding Senior Operator – Job Responsibilities
Primary Duties:
Safely operate multiple blow molding machines to produce bottles that meet standard specifications, as outlined in the E-Log Sheet provided by the Scheduling Department, with the assistance of one or more team members.
Conduct ongoing quality checks to ensure bottles meet required standards.
Train and supervise junior department members in equipment operation.
Operational Responsibilities:
Ensure blow molding machines operate safely, efficiently, and continuously according to scheduled work orders.
Report any delays or issues affecting the schedule to the Blow Molding Supervisor and Shift Leader.
Verify carry-over quantities with the scheduler to align with production and blow molding schedules.
Confirm that the quality of bottles being blown or sleeved (including color and weight) meets Q.A. specifications.
Maintain cleanliness in the blow molding area at all times.
Coordinate color changes to minimize downtime.
Perform mold changes safely and efficiently to produce quality bottles as scheduled.
Conduct and record Quality Assurance Tests on the Blow Molding Quality Assurance Sheet.
Perform minor mechanical repairs to keep machines in good working order, and notify the Blow Molding Supervisor of issues requiring extensive maintenance. Assist with repairs as needed.
Complete shift preventive maintenance tasks (e.g., filter changes, equipment cleaning, pre-shift lubrication).
Make necessary machine and process adjustments to maintain bottle quality and production levels in accordance with company standards.
Ensure a continuous supply of dyes and resins to support uninterrupted machine operation.
Adhere to all safety and corporate policies.
End-of-Shift Responsibilities:
Communicate all relevant shift information (e.g., problems encountered, corrective actions taken, current status) to the incoming Senior Operator.
Perform additional tasks as assigned by the Blow Molding Supervisor or Shift Supervisor.
Qualifications & Experience:
Technical education in a related field.
Minimum 7 years of extrusion blow molding experience in a production environment.
Advanced mechanical skills.
Proficiency in English or French.
Environmental, Health & Safety Knowledge:
Familiarity with the Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS).
Understanding of Static Prevention and Emergency Shutdown Systems.
Knowledge of Fire Prevention and Safety Instructions as outlined in the Emergency Manual.
Completion of a Safety Course in Blow Molding.
Achievement Report for Blow Molding Operator.
Completion of Compliance Course.
General knowledge of ISO standards.
