About

About Bree

Bree is a consumer finance platform building faster, simpler, and more affordable financial services for Canadians who often live paycheck to paycheck. We operate in a massive market that's historically been underserved by traditional financial institutions, and we're building products that help customers access short-term credit with a transparent, user-first experience.

To date, 500,000+ Canadians have signed up for Bree—and we believe we're still early. We're at an exciting intersection of product-market fit, rapid growth, and a clear path to becoming one of the most important fintech companies in Canada.

We're at 8-figures of annualized revenue, growing quickly, and profitable. We were part of Y Combinator (Summer 2021) and raised a $2M seed round shortly after.

The Role

We're looking for Bree's first Product Manager to steward our product through our next phase of growth. This is a hands-on role where you'll drive outcomes end-to-end: identify the highest-leverage problems, translate them into crisp specs, ship quickly with engineering/design, and close the loop with measurement and iteration.

Your job is to bring clarity and momentum: turn messy inputs (CX feedback, risk constraints, data, stakeholder requests) into a prioritized plan, then execute with high quality in a regulated, risk-sensitive environment.

As our first PM, you'll also help build our product operating system—how we intake feedback, prioritize, plan, execute, measure, and learn.

This is a great role for someone who has shipped consumer product at speed, is extremely strong with data, and wants broader ownership across product strategy, execution, and cross-functional leadership.

What You'll Do
  • Own a core product area (you'll start with one clear surface area, then expand scope as we scale)

  • Build and maintain a prioritized roadmap grounded in measurable impact

  • Turn ambiguous problems into PRDs/specs that engineering and design can execute quickly

  • Partner deeply with Engineering, Design, Analytics, Underwriting/Risk, CX, and Compliance

  • Define success metrics for every initiative and ensure clean instrumentation before launch

  • Run tight launch loops: ship → measure → learn → iterate (fast, disciplined, and data-driven)

  • Improve internal execution: help establish cadence and artifacts (weekly execution, quarterly planning, post-launch reviews)

What We're Looking For
  • Extreme ownership: When a metric is off or a launch underperforms, you own it. You diagnose root cause, rally the right people, and drive to resolution—without waiting to be asked

  • Communication range: You can align founders on a crisp tradeoff, write clear PRDs for engineers, and translate risk/compliance constraints into product decisions that CX can support

  • Pragmatic judgment: You make decisions that balance user experience, risk/underwriting, ops cost, and engineering effort

  • Customer orientation: Strong product intuition. You think about user impact, not just technical elegance

  • Analytical rigor: You default to measurable goals, clean instrumentation, and post-launch readouts. You're comfortable diving into funnels/cohorts and using data to choose what to do next

Ideal Background
  • Current PM / Senior PM (or high-performing Associate PM) ready for broader scope and ownership

  • Experience shipping consumer products with high velocity (mobile/web), with strong execution habits

  • Comfort working in fintech, lending/credit, payments, fraud, collections, or other risk-sensitive systems (nice to have, not required)

  • Strong analytics mindset (SQL and/or deep dashboard literacy) and experience defining success metrics + instrumentation

  • Track record of shipping meaningful improvements while maintaining quality and stakeholder alignment

What We Offer
  • Top of the market compensation for top performers

  • Comprehensive dental / vision

  • $1,500 annual learning & home-office stipend

  • $1,000 annual wellness stipend

  • $250 monthly lunch stipend

  • $150 monthly commuter stipend

  • Annual company retreats

  • Parental leave

  • 20 annual PTO days + unlimited sick days

  • Toronto, Ontario, Canada
