BC Assessment is currently looking for a temporary Executive Coordinator (12 month term) to support our VP, People in our Victoria office.

Just as importantly, you build trusted relationships, communicate clearly with a wide range of stakeholders, and are motivated by supporting the People division and its strategic priorities.

What you'll get to do

As the Executive Coordinator, you will play a key role in supporting the Vice President, People, and the effective operation of the People division. You'll manage and integrate day-to-day administrative, operational, and coordination activities, bringing structure, sound judgment, and a high level of service to work that is often fast-moving, sensitive, and time critical.

Working closely with the VP, divisional leaders, and a wide range of internal stakeholders, you'll help keep priorities on track, support planning and budgeting processes, and ensure information flows smoothly across the division. From coordinating executive activities and preparing materials, to improving processes and supporting projects, you'll play an important part in helping the People division deliver strategic people programs and people services across BC Assessment.

In this role, you will:

  • Manage day-to-day administrative activities of the VP office; follow up with Senior Leaders, Division Managers, and others to ensure actions are initiated and/or completed;

  • Develop and implement operational and administrative procedures and processes;

  • Participate in the division's development of plans and budgets and assess operational risks, performance, and best practices;

  • Provide effective issues management by ensuring the Vice President and Divisional Managers are informed of pending developments, potential conflicts, and sensitive issues;

  • Act as a resource by gathering information, providing advice and recommendations, analyzing requests, determining priorities, and ensuring follow-up and appropriate documentation;

  • Research and analyze information, including confidential and sensitive materials, gather relevant facts, identify implications and resource requirements, and consult with the Executive and/or Division Managers on recommendations, options, and implementation;

  • Write or assist in the preparation of draft briefing notes, reports, project planning documents, issues papers, and Board submissions which may be confidential or sensitive;

  • Identify and prioritize training needs, and organize and provide training on procedures, practices, and policies to address competency gaps.

This position is excluded from the bargaining unit.  BC Assessment intends to establish an eligibility list for this competition.

  • Location: Victoria, BC

  • Compensation: $79,859 - $97,634

  • Competition Close Date: Sunday, March 1st, 2026 @ 11:59PM (PST)

*The salary range provided is based on our current Management salary structure. The successful candidate's placement will consider qualifications, experience, market norms, and internal equity. The typical recruitment range spans from the minimum to the mid-range, with the potential to advance to the maximum through performance-based increases.

What you bring to the team
 

Education

  • A university degree or college diploma in Business, Accounting, Public Administration, or equivalent.

Experience

  • 3-5 years related experience (with Degree or Diploma).

  • Experience with issues management, risk and strategic problem solving.

  • Experience undertaking research and applying analytical skills.

  • Experience leading or coordinating projects, and/or coordinating teams.

  • Experience coordinating the development, monitoring, and reporting against corporate and/or divisional business plans and budgets.

Note: An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
