THE POSITION

Keyera is seeking an Operations Specialist – Pipeline Systems to oversee operational efficiency and optimization for Keyera's NGL and condensate pipelines. Based out of the Sherwood Park Regional Office, this role works closely with Pipeline, Control Centre, Maintenance, and Engineering teams to identify improvements, optimize system performance, and translate opportunities into actionable plans.
 

This position requires regular travel to regional assets to assess system performance, identify optimization opportunities, and support implementation activities.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work closely with Pipeline, Control Centre Operations, and Maintenance to ensure pipeline systems are operated safely and at maximum efficiency.
  • Identify system constraints and throughput bottlenecks and provide operational insight to Asset Optimization and Engineering teams to support troubleshooting and improvement efforts.
  • Lead the identification, evaluation, and implementation of pipeline system optimization and efficiency initiatives, including DRA usage and injection rate management.
  • Review and monitor daily and monthly production plans, and interface with logistics schedulers to ensure nominations are optimized within system capacity.
  • Monitor power load and consumption across pipeline systems, and define, develop, and implement optimal power management solutions.
  • Own and implement pipeline system optimization Management of Change (MOC) activities.
  • Serve as the Operations owner for Visual KPI development, performance tracking, and reporting.
  • Conduct monthly alarm management reviews, including reconciliation of shelved and suppressed alarms, and recommend changes to address nuisance and chattering alarms.
  • Provide operational insight and support for pipeline system projects, business development, Engineering, and Marketing activities, including supporting and generating new operational efficiency ideas.
  • Assist with LACT and pump station operational issues and troubleshooting as required.
  • Travel to operating sites to assess opportunities, support implementation of improvements, and collaborate with asset stakeholders.
  • Provide backup support for the Control Centre Lead and KAPS Operations Supervisor as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

The successful candidate will be well-organized, collaborative, and possess strong operational and analytical skills with the following qualifications:

  • 10 + years of experience in pipeline operations, facility operations, or related maintenance and optimization roles.
  • P.Eng, CET, Power Engineering, or Journeyman Is preferred.
  • Experience working closely with Engineering, Maintenance, Operations, and Capital Project teams to plan, troubleshoot, and optimize system performance.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop actionable plans and implement operational improvements across multiple assets.
  • Strong understanding of pipeline operations, asset management, reliability practices, and system performance optimization.
  • Proven ability to lead and collaborate with cross-functional teams, providing guidance, mentorship, and oversight.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills with the ability to assess risk, prioritize improvements, and evaluate system performance.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills to manage multiple priorities.
  • A valid driver's license and ability to provide 5-year standard driver abstract (clean driver's abstract).
