The team
The Lincoln Alexander School of Law is the culmination of years of planning, legal consultation and approvals, but it started as a belief that this institution's innovative approach to learning should be applied to the study of law.
There are major shifts currently taking place in the Canadian legal market – driven in large part by technological and entrepreneurial forces. We've created a new law school because the legal system needs a new kind of lawyer. The overriding purpose of the Lincoln Alexander School of Law Juris Doctor (JD) program is to train practice-ready lawyers who are equipped with the entrepreneurial skills required to increase access to legal services for all Canadians.
The Opportunity
We're looking for an administrative leader to provide managerial support in the Lincoln Alexander School of Law. The Manager, Operations and Special Projects will provide support to the Executive Director, Strategic Initiatives and Operations in the effective and efficient planning, management and execution of all operational and administrative functions in the Lincoln Alexander School of Law. A key area of focus will be on the planning and execution of high profile events and conferences for the School. You will develop, strengthen and implement effective operational systems that are aligned with the School's strategic goals and priorities and manage resources in an efficient, innovative and professional manner. You will collaborate with the Executive Director on resource and facilities planning projects and initiatives to meet the School's operational and strategic objectives. In consultation with the Executive Director, Strategic Initiatives and Operations, you will provide analytical support, advice and recommendations for management decision making on all aspects of administrative processes, special projects, events management and operations.
Key Responsibilities
Resource management: Participates in the strategic resource and facilities planning for the Law school. Reviews short- and long-term objectives; conducts research and analysis, provides advice and makes recommendations to the Executive Director and the Dean on for the efficient utilization of space for the school; Leads the Law school's improvements, space renovation and expansion projects, maintains space inventory, and interacts with other university departments relative to renovations, security of space, and emergency responses, ensuring compliance with university and legislative regulations
Executive Administration Support: Provides senior and confidential operations and administrative support to the Executive Director, Strategic Initiatives, Academic Administration and Operations in various aspects of office management
Events and Special Projects Management: Plans, leads and organizes special events and conferences that include internal and external stakeholders, partners, etc. Coordinate all processes, activities and local resources required for the events. Supervises project team at all stages of the project; Ensures appropriate logistical planning and support including scheduling of the events, venue, programming details, catering, security, etc. and ensures smooth coordination with all stakeholders. Conducts post-activity assessment; identifies opportunity areas for improvement
Human Resources: Oversees the onboarding of all new employees, including organizing an orientation to the office, obtaining OneCards, setting up email accounts, computer access, etc.; Addresses issues of workplace culture, equity, diversity and inclusion, health, safety and well-being, employee engagement, performance and attendance standards, and other HR related issues in collaboration with the Executive Director, Strategic Initiatives and Operations and Employee Engagement
Qualifications

Post-secondary degree in Business or related field
A minimum of five (5) years of relevant work experience in office administration, operational, facilities and resource planning and management along with the following requirements:
Must have experience coaching and managing a team of professionals
Strong project management and administrative skills; Demonstrated experience managing multiple projects from ideation to completion; excellent ability to manage changing priorities
Demonstrated experience with planning and execution of a variety of events
Demonstrated strong budgeting and analytical skills
Strong interpersonal skills to be able to manage key relationships and personnel; demonstrated ability to network both within the University community and the broader community
Ability to work well under pressure in various situations; in addition, ability to bring optimism and devotion to the work environment;
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Excellent ability to gather, interpret and synthesize large amounts of information
Coordination skills in order to facilitate the collaboration of administrators from various departments across campus;
Strong computer skills
