Reporting to the Senior Manager, Financial Accounting, this position is responsible for supporting timely and accurate financial reporting, contributing to period-end close activities, and participating in special projects as required.
This contract position has a high potential for extension or conversion to a permanent role, based on business needs.
T&T Supermarket Inc. was founded in 1993 with two stores in BC. Since then, it has expanded rapidly and is now Canada's largest Asian supermarket chain with 37 stores across the country: 14 in BC, 7 in Alberta, 14 in Ontario, and 2 in Quebec. The Company's continuous expansion is going to bring more new stores in the next couple of years.
Perform a wide range of accounting functions, including accruals and deferrals, fixed assets and amortization, journal entries, account reconciliations, and other duties supporting the period-end close process.
Review, examine, and analyze accounting and financial records, documentation, and systems to ensure accuracy and compliance with established accounting standards, policies, and internal controls.
Apply and maintain standard accounting policies and procedures to support business operations and ensure the delivery of accurate and timely financial information.
Support the execution of departmental and company-wide objectives, including participation in related projects and initiatives.
Perform other ad hoc duties and assignments as required.
Degree or diploma in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration.
Enrollment in the CPA program or pursuit of a professional designation is considered an asset.
Minimum of three years of hands-on experience in a retail accounting environment.
Solid experience with general ledger functions and period-end and year-end close processes.
Strong attention to detail, accuracy, ownership, and critical thinking skills.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft applications, particularly Excel; with strong communication skills.
A collaborative team player with the ability to work independently when required.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; ability to speak, read, and understand Chinese (Cantonese and/or Mandarin) is preferred.
