Overview

Adastra is seeking a Product Owner/Scrum Consultant to lead an AI-driven Data Governance product initiative. This role will own the product vision, roadmap, and delivery of enterprise data governance capabilities currently in development, ensuring alignment with enterprise data strategy, regulatory obligations, and measurable business outcomes.

Location: Downtown Toronto, ON (Hybrid 2-Day) 

Status: Contract 

Responsibilities:

  • Define and own the product vision, roadmap, and priorities for enterprise Data Governance initiatives
  • Align product direction with enterprise data strategy and AI innovation objectives
  • Create, refine, and prioritize the product backlog with focus on data quality, master/reference data, metadata management, lineage, and regulatory compliance
  • Translate business and governance requirements into clear user stories with well-defined acceptance criteria
  • Drive end-to-end product lifecycle delivery from discovery and design through execution, release planning, and adoption
  • Act as the primary liaison across Data Governance teams, business stakeholders, data owners/stewards, architecture, engineering, risk, and compliance partners
  • Facilitate workshops and discovery sessions to define scope, success metrics, and delivery milestones
  • Communicate product progress, risks, KPIs, and outcomes to senior leadership and governance forums
  • Support enterprise Data Governance frameworks, standards, and controls in collaboration with architects and SMEs
  • Partner with regulatory and privacy teams to ensure compliance with requirements such as BCBS 239, GDPR, and PIPEDA
  • Lead cross-functional Agile teams and ensure effective sprint planning, backlog refinement, reviews, and retrospectives
  • Break down complex data and technical challenges into incremental, value-driven releases
  • Monitor product performance against defined KPIs to drive improvements in data quality, compliance, and operational efficiency
  • Support rollout planning, communications, documentation, and training to drive enterprise adoption and data literacy

Qualifications, Skills & Experience:

  • 8+ years of experience in Product Ownership, Product Management, or Agile delivery within large enterprise environments
  • Demonstrated experience leading Data Governance or enterprise data initiatives
  • Strong understanding of data quality frameworks, metadata management, master/reference data, lineage concepts, and data ownership models
  • Experience working within Agile/SCRUM environments as a Product Owner
  • Ability to translate complex technical and data concepts into clear, business-aligned requirements
  • Strong executive communication, stakeholder management, and influencing skills.
  • Strategic thinker with strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
  • Comfortable managing ambiguity and driving decisions in fast-paced enterprise settings

Nice to Have:

  • Experience supporting AI/ML-enabled enterprise data platforms
  • Experience within regulated industries (Financial Services, Insurance, Healthcare, etc.)
  • Certifications such as CSPO, SAFe PO/PM, or PMI-ACP
  • Familiarity with enterprise data governance tools (e.g., Collibra, Informatica, Alation, Purview)
  • Experience within consulting or client-facing delivery environments
