ABOUT THE ROLE
Reporting to the Superintendent, Conservation Parks, a Crew Leader for Conservation Parks works in a variety of settings, mostly outdoors. Our main goal is to provide excellent customer service and connect visitors with nature. Crew Leaders are an integral part of the Conservation Parks team to deliver high-quality park programming, special events and trails and facility maintenance.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Must possess a valid Class "G2" or "G" driver's license in good standing. Successful candidate must provide an MTO Driver's Abstract.
- Ability to work in all weather conditions.
- Ability to work during non-daylight hours.
- Available to work most weekends and holidays.
- Strong communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness to learn new skills.
- Experience in a supervisory role is an asset.
- Currently possesses or is willing to obtain Emergency/Basic First Aid, CPR C certification
SUMMARY OF MAJOR TASKS
- Assisting with supervision of Crew Members.
- Assisting with hiring, training, evaluating and motivating seasonal staff.
- Assisting with preparation of work plans and delegating tasks.
- Conducting routine inspections.
- Coordinating and executing trails and facilities maintenance including pruning, trimming, boardwalk construction, washroom cleaning, and minor carpentry and plumbing projects.
- Safe operation of CVC-owned and operated vehicles and equipment.
- Operating a point-of-sale system including online and in-person sales, reservations and payments.
- Providing visitors with detailed information about our Conservation Areas and surrounding areas from a recreational and educational perspective.
