Description
The Data Scientist will play a central role in advancing data-driven decision-making across the organization, with a strong focus on improving clinical outcomes through analysis. This position is responsible for developing predictive models and analytical frameworks that uncover the drivers of key operational metrics such as length of stay, patient retention, transfer risk, and throughput bottlenecks.
Working closely with clinical, operational, and technical teams, the Data Scientist will design and implement statistical models, machine learning pipelines, and natural language processing solutions that leverage both structured and unstructured healthcare data. The role also includes contributing to MLOps practices to ensure scalable, reliable deployment of models into production environments.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Lead development of advanced models and experimentation frameworks. Design, build, and maintain end-to-end machine learning pipelines in a cloud based framework. Develop and refine NLP pipelines to extract structured information from unstructured clinical documentation. Mentor junior data scientists and review code and methodologies. Own domain-specific analytics solutions and stakeholder relationships. Applying statistical techniques to improve clinical workflows Ensure model governance and documentation standards are met. Explore large datasets to identify patterns, trends, and insights. Create visualizations (such as charts, graphs, and dashboards) to communicate findings effectively. Apply statistical techniques to analyze data and draw meaningful conclusions. Collaborate with data scientists to build predictive models when necessary. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience in StrataJazz or similar decision support system (Data sources include electronic health records (e.g., EPIC), decision support systems (e.g, EPSi, StrataJazz), and other healthcare systems.) HIPAA compliance or experience with OMOP/standardized data models. HL7/FHIR standards and Data Ethics/Privacy. Agile experience JUDGEMENT: Leads a team - Helps develop and implement a solution and/or analytical strategy for the group - Manage customer relationships, communicating results and recommendations to project sponsors, clients & various senior level audiences - Guide decision-making through data-driven recommendations MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: A bachelors degree, a master's degree is preferred Experience: At least 5 years of experience either in healthcare or data analytics - At least 2 years of experience working for payor companies or healthcare systems - At least 2 years of experience in relational database - Proficient in SQL and at least 1 other programming languages (e.g., Python, R, SAS) - Experience in statistical modeling, machine learning, AI - Excellent presentation skills - Experience in strategic planning and workflow optimization - Mentor and coach the broader analytic team and service line operation leaders
