What you can expect from this position:
Working with the Manager, Airside Electrical Maintenance, the Technical Support Supervisor, Airside Electrical, organizes the work activity of the Electrical Maintenance section in support of the operation and development of the Airside area.
As a Technical Support Supervisor, Airside Electrical, you will:
Provide recommendations to management on the annual goals and objectives, developing unit goals, performance criteria, assisting in the evaluation of work programs, individual and special projects.
Participate in the preparation of the annual budget such as recommending on material needs and identifying upcoming needs of the Airfield Lighting System.
Ensure that any handover work is organized and ready for upcoming shift including, work order created, history on the work and relevant instructions, order materials, pick up some material at source.
Represent department by providing information and input on large projects which impact on Airport wide electrical systems.
Assist in the provision of on-the-job orientation and training to division staff.
Provide recommendations on proper inventory levels for material, tools, equipment and resources required to undertake the maintenance and repair program.
Provide, maintain and support recommendations for the Enterprise Asset Management program for improvements to the maintenance work program to maximize the operational use of the facilities plant and equipment through asset management.
Coordinate with keeping the preventative maintenance program data current (EAM) covering Airside Electrical Outbuildings and Navigational Aircraft Aids on the Airfield.
Audit work completed by electricians, both in-house and contractor for compliance according to code\standards and directives and reporting results.
Perform safety audits and field level hazard assessments.
Collaborating with contractors and tenants as a primary source of electrical information including arranging for convenient electrical power interruptions to facilitate repair and maintenance work to minimize operational impacts.
Make sure Kronos and crew schedules are up to date for sign off.
Provide Technical System support to Airfield operations and NAV Canada.
Implement and maintain the restoration program to ensure long term serviceability of Electrical system equipment inventory.
Provide input for energy conservation improvements program.
Assist in assessing requests as to the feasibility for projects, preparing reports, giving advice as requested and preparing detailed plans and material requisitions.
Assist with the organization and implementation of the monthly scheduled workload.
Implement several service contracts required for the maintenance and repair of existing electrical facilities and equipment.
Assist with the administration of the contract, ensuring that proper inspections of the work are being carried out and recommending adjustments and providing assessment of contractors' performance.
Review contracted work schedules with leadership and contractors to coordinate all work with user groups to ensure minimum disruption and to provide work schedules so that operational adjustments can be made.
This unionized position is classified at the Band 9 level, with an hourly wage of $57.66, based on a 40 hour work week, working in a 24/7 operation. A test may be administered as a part of the recruitment process.
Candidates with relevant external experience must provide references with their applications in order to confirm this experience.
This is the role for you, if you have:
2 years of experience supervising trades staff and/or 5 years' Airfield Electrical experience.
5 years of experience as a licensed electrician with a Certificate of Qualification for Electrical construction and Maintenance (309A).
"D AVOP" license must be achieved within 30 days of appointment.
Secondary school or grade 12 equivalent.
Ability to obtain and retain Transportation Security Clearance.
Knowledge and skills you bring, that set-you up for success:
Basic level knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with internal and external partners.
Extensive knowledge of the technologies involved with the various Airside Electrical Systems located at the airport
Understanding and excellent knowledge of the airside activity program, Compliance & Coordination program to coordinate various tasks for maintenance activity.
Understanding and excellent knowledge of Low visibility / reduced visibility Operations (LVOP/RVOP).
Detailed knowledge of High Voltage Power Distribution Systems and Power Transfer Systems.
Comprehensive knowledge of Airport Airfield Lighting Control Systems ALCS) or equivalent SCADA including Hardware, Software and all relevant interfaces.
Knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Labor code for electrical safety.
Good working knowledge and understanding of Canadian Electrical code/Ontario Electrical code and the Canadian Labour Code is required.
Good working knowledge of AMMS and MDC Scheduler and or Maximo.
Knowledge of the Airport layout and Operational Procedures, as well as all relative Safety and Security Systems, Procedures and requirements.
Working knowledge of Nav Canada's Airfield Lighting Panel and its operation.
Thorough knowledge of Transport Canada Operation Manual TP312E and the airport operating manual (AOM).
In depth knowledge of the Airport Inspection Maintenance System.
Working knowledge of the Airport Runway Monitoring System.
Ability to conduct cost estimations for various in-house projects and emergency repairs.
Ability to move heavy inset lights (25+lbs) while inspecting, stocking shop and training.
