Role Overview
The Business Solution Analyst (BSA) acts as a bridge between business stakeholders and software delivery teams, ensuring that business needs are clearly understood, well defined and translated into practical, scalable solutions. This role focuses on problem framing, solution design and value realization, rather than pure requirements documentation. The BSA partners closely with Product, Engineering, Architecture and Operations to support initiatives ranging from incremental enhancements to large-scale platform modernization.
The annual salary range for this role is $85,000 - $100,000. Where an offer falls within this range is determined through the interview process. Candidates are benchmarked by the hiring team based on role scope, relevant experience, skill alignment, and expected impact, using consistent and objective criteria.
This position is remote but may require to be in-office in Toronto for team collaborations.
Key Responsibilities
Business & Stakeholder Management
Partner with business leaders and subject matter experts to understand objectives, constraints and success metrics.
Facilitate workshops and working sessions to clarify problems, align on outcomes and explore solution options.
Act as a trusted advisor, helping stakeholders think through trade offs, dependencies and impacts to their line of business.
Solution Analysis & Design
Translate business needs into clear solution concepts, including process changes, system interactions and data flows.
Collaborate with the Senior Solution Architect, Engineering and CTO to evaluate build vs buy options and ensure that solutions are both feasible and scalable.
Define functional and non-functional requirements in areas such as performance, security, compliance and operations.
Delivery Enablement
Produce high quality artifacts such as:
Problem statements and opportunity briefs
Business process maps (both current and future state)
Functional requirements and acceptance criteria
Solution context and dependency mapping
Support backlog refinement by ensuring stories are well understood, testable and outcome focused.
Work with Quality Assurance (QA) and the delivery teams to validate that solutions are meeting the business intent.
Value & Outcome Focus
Help define measurable success criteria and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) that are tied to business outcomes.
Identify risks, assumptions and constraints early to reduce friction on delivery.
Support change management by ensuring impacts to end users and internal operational staff are understood and communicated.
Qualifications
5+ years of experience in a Business Solution Analyst, Business Analyst or Product Analyst or similar role.
Demonstrated experience working technology enabled solutions in collaboration with Product, Engineering, Architecture and Operations.
Proven ability to translate ambiguous business problems in clearly defined solution approaches, requirements and success criteria
Strong experience facilitating stakeholder discussions, workshops, and decision making forums.
Hands-on experience with agile or hybrid delivery models (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe or similar methodologies).
Excellent written and verbal communications skills, with the ability to tailor messaging for technical and non-technical audiences.
Prior experience supporting or analyzing high-volume, transaction heavy systems (e.g. payments or financial platforms) is an asset.
A successful Business Solution Analyst is measured less by the volume of documentation produced and more by the clarity, alignment and outcomes they enable.
Facets of an individual that is successful in this role include:
The ability to bring clarity from ambiguity by turning loosely defined ideas into shared problem statements and clear solution paths.
Anchor work to outcomes with solutions tied to explicit goals, metrics and value based prioritizations.
Enablement of predictable delivery through well shaped backlogs, early risk identification and overall reduced re-work.
Acting as a trusted partner by constructively challenging assumptions and strengthening decision making quality.
The ability to think in systems and consider people, processes, data and technology end-to-end.
Balance rigor with pragmatism by applying just enough structure to move work forward efficiently.
