The Municipality of Strathroy-Caradoc is currently accepting applications for three (3) seasonal full-time "Parks Labourers." This position is expected to start at the beginning of May 2026 and run until the end of August 2026. Please note this is a Unionized position.
Position Summary
Under the general supervision of the Manager of Community Services Operations, and the technical direction and guidance of the Lead Hand, the Parks Labourer maintains parks and related facilities, including occasional arena and pool functions as required.

Duties And Responsibilities
Assist with the effective and efficient performance of maintenance and janitorial duties primarily involving park facilities, and on occasion, arena and pool facilities.
Assist with the maintenance of parkland and sport fields, using equipment such as front-mounted mowers, line trimmers, ball diamond drags/groomers, push mowers, etc.
Assist with maintenance of playground equipment, bleachers, washrooms and other park related assets as required.
Responsible for daily inspections associated with, but not limited to, vehicles, equipment, and playgrounds.
Responsible for ensuring public safety through the application of due diligence and risk management practices. Ensure the safe operation of municipal equipment and facilities by applying safe work methods and procedures.
Responsible for maintaining a high level of positive customer service by acting in a frontline service capacity dealing with customers' pavilion rentals, answering questions, and other interactions.
Participate in staff meetings and training as may be required.
Complete accident reports, vandalism reports, and customer complaint reports as may be required.
Maintain a positive public image.
Work collaboratively with team members to achieve department goals and objectives.
Work evening and weekend shifts/hours.
Perform such other related duties as may be assigned from time to time.
Qualifications
Ontario Secondary School Diploma or Post-secondary Degree/Diploma
Experience in landscape maintenance an asset
Valid class "G" Ontario Driver's Licence with a satisfactory driver's abstract
Must be competent within the meaning of the Occupational Health and Safety Act
Knowledge of the methods, procedures, principles and practices involved in the maintenance and operation of parks and recreation facilities an asset
Excellent customer service, communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to use computers and related software
First Aid and CPR an asset
Provide a satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check prior to starting employment
Must be legally authorized to work in Canada
Compensation
Wage: $26.59 per hour (per the Collective Agreement)
