About
The Inclusion Services Coordinator plays a vital role in ensuring people with disabilities can fully participate in the City of Kitchener's recreation and leisure programs. This position supports the delivery of inclusive services by coordinating individualized accommodations, providing consultation and guidance to program staff, and helping remove barriers to participation.
Working collaboratively with residents, community partners, caregivers and staff, the Coordinator contributes to creating inclusive, welcoming, and engaging program experiences where all participants can meaningfully participate.
Responsibilities
Ensure the inclusion and participation of people with disabilities in City of Kitchener, direct and indirect recreation, leisure programs and services.
Provide consultation, leisure education, behavior interventions, problem solving and support to individuals with a disability, caregivers, municipal staff, and affiliates to ensure equitable access to municipal programs and services.
Develop resources and implement formal and informal training opportunities for municipal staff and volunteers.
Coordinate and administer Every Kid Counts Program.
Implement and oversee staff coordination and training, development of program accommodation plans, participant assessments and placements, marketing, , program consultation and assessment.
Respond to program accommodation requests from the community.
Communicate with City of Kitchener staff to perform program assessments, make program recommendations, provide training, and work on individual accommodation requests as necessary.
Develop and maintain reports, forms, and manual development.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Education
3-year degree or diploma in a related field (Recreation & Leisure Studies, Social Sciences or Social Work).
Experience
Minimum 2 years of related experience working with people with disabilities or within the disability sector.
Experience in staff training, coaching and scheduling.
Skill Equivalency
Note: All interested applicants are encouraged to apply. In the event there is no successful applicant with the stated level of education and experience, other applicants will be considered if a combination of their education and experience meets the following pre-determined equivalency:
2-Year Diploma (or 2-Year Specialized Post-Secondary Program) with minimum 4 years' related and relevant experience or 4-Year Honours Degree with minimum 1 year related and relevant experience.
Additional Requirements
Valid CPR Level "C" and Standard First Aid Certificate.
Certification in behavioural intervention and modification systems (PMAB, NVCI, ABA, BMS).
Provide a satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check at your own expense as a condition of employment.
Ability to work evenings and weekends.

Excellent communication, mediation and conflict resolution skills.
Demonstrated experience in community development and communication skills.
A positive, reliable work ethic and a commitment to inclusion.
Reliable with a good attitude and employment record.
