Reporting to the Supervisor, the Kitchen Production Associate - Sushi Outlet is responsible for assisting the Supervisor with food preparation, including but not limited to chopping, cutting, marinating, and peeling at the assigned Sushi Outlet. S/he is also responsible for checking the quality and quantity of received food products, carrying and storing the products, and ensuring the cleanliness of kitchen utensils—including tools, containers, cloths, towels, work areas, and food storage areas.
T&T Supermarket Inc. was founded in 1993 with two stores in BC. Since then, it has expanded rapidly and is now Canada's largest Asian supermarket chain with 36 stores across the country: 14 in BC, 7 in Alberta, 13 in Ontario, and 2 in Quebec. The Company's continuous expansion is going to bring more new stores in the next couple of years.
Responsible for the storage of food, both incoming and outgoing stock
Responsible for preparing ingredients before cooking, such as chopping vegetables, butchering meat, or cleaning seafood
Ensure proper receiving is done and food is stored in appropriate conditions
Responsible for his or her own station, ensuring that all items are appropriately cleaned and ready for use before and after each shift
Ensure recipes, ingredient specifications, quantity, quality, and cooking times as stated in the SOPs are executed
Ensure the kitchen meets sanitation and required food safety standards
Ensure product quality, food safety, freshness, and that FIFO is strictly practiced within the department
Ensure that food is properly stored and handled at all times by ensuring all temperature records are properly maintained
Responsible for cleanliness, hygiene, and maintenance of equipment and tools; ensure garbage, recycled materials, and other disposable items are handled in a timely and proper manner
Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor(s)
Possess knowledge, skills, and prior experience in making Kitchen Deli products (Sushi, Rolls, Sashimi, Teriyaki, and/or other semi-finished products)
Possess 1 to 3 or more years of relevant experience
Possess knowledge of workplace health & safety and food safety (Food Safe Certification required)
Good communication and customer service skills
Flexible to work in various shifts, including weekdays, weekends, holidays, and morning and evening hours
Possess basic computer skills in MS Office
