As the Lab Technician, you would be responsible for basic laboratory operations and ensuring a high quality of service and accuracy. Croptimistic's soil lab plays a key role in supporting our precision agronomy services. This is a temporary position, with the potential for permanent employment.

Responsibilities 

  • Perform routine laboratory procedures
    • Soil sample intake & data entry
    • Grind soils
    • Weigh soil samples
    • Run and monitor equipment
    • Extract and filter soil samples
  • Assist with the logistics and organisation of samples
  • Thorough and accurate completion of data entry and documentation
  • Follow lab procedures precisely to ensure consistent, reliable results
  • Adhere to laboratory standard turn-around times
  • Clean labware and laboratory workspaces
  • Monitor and maintain inventory as required
  • Maintain a safe testing environment that is compliant with policies and procedures
  • Report any issues immediately to the Lab Manager to ensure production is not compromised

Requirements 

  • Communication, organization and problem-solving skills
  • Able to manage time efficiently while maintaining attention to detail in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Safety-conscious
  • Valid driver's license
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience working in a lab environment is considered an asset
  • Willing to work overtime, including Saturdays
  • Physical ability to stand or sit for long periods of time, lift 50lbs occasionally, and manual dexterity
  • Able to wear personal protective equipment, such as dust masks and gloves
