Recognizing the rise of chronic liver disease, Sonic Incytes is on a mission to make liver health a new
vital sign. Its novel, point of care ultrasound solution, Velacur, is redefining the standard of care in
quantifying liver tissue stiffness and attenuation to aid in the clinical management of patients with
chronic liver disease.
Purpose
Sonic Incytes is seeking a Junior Hardware Engineer, who will play key roles in the development and
implementation of design improvements to our device's hardware. The Junior Hardware Engineer will
work with our Hardware team to help with product assembly and testing. You will be expected to handle
a wide variety of tasks including performing tests, analyzing data, creating detailed documentation,
communicating with multiple third parties, and placing orders. You are an enthusiastic go-getter with
great people skills and are excited to work in a fast-paced environment. You have an analytical mind
with fine attention to detail and can manage your time well with minimal supervision.
Key Responsibilities
- Work closely with the Lead, Hardware Engineer & Mechatronics Engineer to assemble, test
and ship our product. - Support the Lead, Hardware Engineer with the creation of prototypes for future hardware
design. - Develop test plans, conduct tests, and complete test reports of our product and its
components. - Contribute to internal usability testing of new software and hardware enhancements to
understand how real users would interact with our product. - Source components, parts and products & coordinate with suppliers and vendors to purchase
and expedite the delivery of key electro-mechanical components. - Support audits, documentation, and the company's Quality Management System (QMS).
- Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams including software, clinical and operations.
- Communicate with Sales, Marketing, and the customer, as a member of the Customer Support
team. - Other related duties, as required.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience - 1+ years experience in hardware development, working with both mechanical and electronic
systems product design, development and prototyping. - Currently enrolled or graduated from a University Degree or Technical Diploma from an
accredited institution in Mechatronics, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent. - Experienced in working in a workshop including both hand tools and advanced manufacturing
tools. - Understanding of materials, plastic, and metal production processes.
- Skills in 3D CAD software, including Solidworks. Experienced in PCB design (Altium Designer) and development. Soldering, SMD, testing
(analog & digital). - Experienced in 3D printing.
Nice to have : - Knowledge of electrical safety and EMC testing.
- Prior experience with product development.
- Experience in sourcing components and interacting with vendors
- Knowledge of programming languages: C++ or C, MATLAB, and Embedded firmware (C,C++)
is an asset.
