Customs and Border Protection Officer Job Description
As a Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officer, you play a vital role in safeguarding the nation's borders. Your responsibilities include enforcing customs, immigration, and agriculture laws; facilitating legitimate trade and travel; conducting inspections of individuals and conveyances; determining admissibility of individuals for entry into the United States; preventing illegal entry of prohibited goods and smuggling activities.
Key Responsibilities:- • Enforce Customs Laws: Determine duty rates on imported goods based on export documents from foreign countries. Evaluate insurance claims to ensure product integrity during transportation. Conduct random searches at airports or seaports to identify contraband or stolen merchandise.
- • Facilitate Legitimate Trade: Evaluate documentation submitted by importers/exporters regarding commodities traded between nations. Work with shippers/truck drivers to troubleshoot issues related shipping permits/custom regulations."
