Job Summary

This role designs, builds, and operates software systems that support data processing and applied modeling workflows in production. The position includes building and maintaining pipelines, deploying and operating services, and partnering across engineering teams to deliver reliable, observable, and maintainable solutions. Work spans multiple project types and technical domains, requiring flexibility and strong execution across ambiguous problem areas.

Key Responsibilities
  • Build and maintain production software used for batch processing, scheduled jobs, and service-based workflows

  • Develop and operate data pipelines, including full refresh and incremental processing patterns

  • Implement and support deployment workflows for services and model-backed components, including fixing failures and improving reliability

  • Perform data transformations and define/maintain structured data formats for downstream systems

  • Drive operational improvements: monitoring, alerting, runbooks, incident follow-up, and performance tuning for long-running workloads

  • Collaborate with platform, data, and partner engineering teams to integrate solutions end-to-end

  • Supply through code reviews, documentation, and incremental improvements to shared tooling and services

  • Identify and resolve blockers spanning code, data, environment configuration, and runtime constraints

Required Qualifications
  • 3+ years of professional experience in software engineering

  • Strong programming skills in Python and/or another general-purpose language used for backend development

  • Experience building or operating production systems (services, pipelines, scheduled jobs, or similar)

  • Practical experience debugging issues across logs/metrics, application code, and data

  • Comfort working across multiple parallel initiatives with changing priorities

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with distributed or large-scale data processing (batch and/or streaming)

  • Experience with containerized runtime environments and deployment pipelines

  • Familiarity with data warehousing concepts, schema changes, and data quality checks

  • Exposure to applied modeling or model-adjacent systems (training/inference pipelines, feature generation, evaluation, or serving), without requiring the role to be solely focused on modeling

Leveling Notes (Level 23)
  • Independently delivers well-scoped features and operational improvements

  • Owns implementation and day-to-day reliability for assigned systems and pipelines

  • Raises risks early and drives issues to closure with appropriate partners

  • Produces maintainable solutions aligned with established patterns and standards
