Key Responsibilities:
Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of site-specific safety programs in alignment with corporate EHS policies.
Ensure compliance with all applicable Canadian health & safety regulations (e.g., OHSA, WHMIS, provincial codes).
Conduct risk assessments, site inspections, audits, and incident investigations.
Serve as a subject matter expert on Canadian safety regulations and interpret standards for the broader EHS team.
Provide training, coaching, and tools to ensure managers and employees understand and meet safety expectations.
Monitor key safety metrics (leading and lagging indicators) and develop action plans to improve safety performance.
Collaborate with US-based EHS leadership to align initiatives and share best practices.
Prepare and deliver safety reports, audits, and updates to the Safety Director and senior management.
Lead emergency preparedness efforts and incident response coordination across Canadian sites.
Support implementation of new corporate safety initiatives, policies, and technologies in Canadian facilities.
Required Qualifications:
5+ years of progressive EHS experience, with a strong focus on safety management in manufacturing, logistics, or industrial settings.
In-depth knowledge of Canadian occupational health and safety laws and provincial regulations.
Experience working in multi-site operations; cross-border or multinational EHS experience is an asset.
Strong leadership, communication, and collaboration skills.
Ability to travel across Canadian locations (up to 30%) and occasional travel to the US for team meetings/training.
Preferred Qualifications:
CRSP (Canadian Registered Safety Professional) designation strongly preferred.
Work Conditions:
Location (also remote/in-office/hybrid): Woodbridge
Work Hours: M-F in office or travel, available after hours and weekends for urgent needs and plant support.
Travel Requirements: 35% Travel
