Position: Sr DevOps Engineer with Automation Location: Atlanta, GA (Onsite) Duration: 6+ Months
Primary Skill -
Chef Infra, Chef Automate, Test Kitchen, InSpec PowerShell, Python, Bash, Chef, or Terraform
Key Responsibilities: Develop and maintain Chef cookbooks, recipes, templates, attributes, and custom resources Build and enhance infrastructure automation pipelines for provisioning and configuration Implement policy-based configuration using Chef Infra, Test Kitchen, InSpec, and Chef Automate Integrate Chef with CI/CD systems (Azure DevOps, Jenkins, GitLab, etc.) Perform error handling, versioning, and code reviews for cookbook updates Work with platform teams (Compute, Storage, Network, Cloud) to automate repeatable operations Troubleshoot configuration drifts, cookbook failures, and infrastructure-level issues Enforce compliance and security baselines using Chef InSpec Drive automation maturity and reduce manual operational activities Prepare documentation, standards, and automation patterns Required Skills: Strong hands-on experience with Chef Infra, Chef Automate, Test Kitchen, InSpec Proficiency in Ruby, PowerShell, Bash scripting Understanding of CI/CD and Git-based workflows Experience with Windows/Linux administration Knowledge of cloud platforms (Azure/AWS/GCP) Infrastructure automation and configuration management best practices Debugging configuration drift and infra-related issues
Required Skills: Strong Windows/Linux administration background Scripting and automation (PowerShell, Python, Bash) Experience with configuration management tools (Chef preferred) Knowledge of virtualization (VMware/Hyper-V) and cloud compute (Azure/AWS) Understanding of monitoring tools (Grafana, Prometheus, Splunk, CloudWatch, Azure Monitor) Strong incident management and problem-solving skills Familiarity with SRE concepts (SLOs, Error Budgets, Reliability Patterns)
