This role is located in Grand Rapids, MI or Clearwater, FL, with a flexible blend of onsite and hybrid work arrangements (2-3 days in the office). As part of the Platform Computing and Networking ION (I/O & Networks) engineering team, you will work on the MV-75 program and leverage your extensive experience in embedded software design to support Level A certification projects. Your responsibilities will encompass development, engineering, integration, and testing of complex aviation-based hardware and software systems. Key Responsibilities: Design and evaluate projects using sound engineering principles while adhering to established practices and requirements. Mentor and coordinate with team members across multiple sites in the analysis, design, testing, and integration of embedded software. Ensure compliance with GE Policies, Engineering Standards, Software Procedures, Government, and Industry Standards. Develop innovative technical strategies to advance team capabilities. Create and maintain technical documentation for projects and best practices. Communicate significant issues or developments in a timely manner. Contribute to teams addressing organizational initiatives and challenges. Engage in technical and program reviews. Take ownership of less defined project scopes to achieve business objectives. Be prepared for occasional travel (up to 10%). Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field from an accredited institution. A minimum of 5 years of experience in embedded software development, including software architecture, integration, and verification phases. Ability to access technical data under U.S. Government contract regulations; only U.S. Citizens will be considered for this role. Desired Attributes: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Exceptional written and oral communication skills; capable of presenting technical data effectively. Highly organized with excellent planning skills in a process-driven environment. Self-motivated and detail-oriented, with a knack for team collaboration. Proficient in problem decomposition, documentation, and effort estimation. Ability to translate customer needs into effective software solutions. Experience in integration across various systems. Capability to lead medium to large development projects, including planning and management. Solid understanding of scope, scheduling, and cost considerations. Proactive in exploring innovative technologies and approaches. Strong interpersonal skills, fostering collaboration among engineers across disciplines. Comprehensive knowledge of software architecture, design, and verification. Experience with aviation communication standards and systems. Hands-on experience with test equipment and software tools. Familiarity with real-time software development and relevant programming languages. Knowledge of DO-178C DAL A certification processes. Experience with specific hardware platforms and development environments. Understanding of operating systems relevant to embedded development. Exposure to network protocols and remote data systems.
