About
We're looking for an experienced IT Support Engineer to join our education-focused team.
*About the Role*
Based across our school sites in the Bournemouth/Poole area. Mileage reimbursed.
This role is customer facing and requires both technical skill and excellent customer service, including the ability to manage expectations and knowing when to fix, when to communicate, and when to escalate.
Some days are device rollouts and user support. Others are deeper troubleshooting that remote teams couldn't resolve. We need someone comfortable with both, who can see issues through to resolution.
*What You'll Do*
* Provide hands-on, on-site support, prioritise your own workload and solve problems for staff and students
* Your week will be scheduled by the business based on client needs
* Maintain service quality across the sites you support
* Act as the primary point of contact for the client on day to day matters
* Day-to-day support including device setup, user issues, classroom tech, printers, tablets and connectivity.
* Troubleshoot complex issues and investigate root cause before escalating.
* Manage Windows environments: Active Directory, Group Policy, software deployment, Intune, Azure, Windows Server
* Work with third-party suppliers (firewall vendors, ISPs, VoIP, print/AV), raise tickets with useful technical detail, chase when needed, and own the communication.
* Keep documentation current and communicate clearly with non-technical staff.
*What You'll Need*
* Experience as the primary or responsible engineer, comfortable being the person the client relies on
* Proven ability to hold client confidence independently, setting expectations
* Experience in customer-facing IT support, ideally field-based or across multiple sites
* Able to work independently and manage your own time
* Exemplary communication skills, strong customer service, and an ability to build genuine relationships with school staff
* Solid troubleshooting skills with an instinct for root cause over quick fixes
* Strong diagnostic skills across hardware, software and network issues
* Microsoft 365, Windows 11, Apple, Android, Google Workspace
* Networking fundamentals (DHCP, DNS, VLANs) and practical Wi-Fi/Network troubleshooting
* Experience with enterprise wireless platforms (Ubiquiti UniFi preferred, but Meraki, Aruba or similar considered)
* Familiarity with print management (Papercut, uniFLOW or similar)
* Windows deployments and user data migration
* Comfortable working with unfamiliar systems using documentation and judgement
* Clear, patient communication with non-technical people
* Full UK driving licence
Subject to Enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references
