The CBPO is responsible for enforcing customs, immigration, and agriculture laws and regulations. They conduct inspections of individuals and conveyances to determine admissibility for entry into the United States. Officers must be able to make rapid judgments about potential threats to national security.

• Detain suspected violators using proper law enforcement methods.
• Enforce laws relating to importing/exporting merchandise from/to the US.
