JOB SUMMARY:
The IT Security Analyst 1 is responsible for maintaining the security, stability, and performance of the organization's network infrastructure. This role focuses on day-to-day network operations and cybersecurity administration, including firewall management, access control, monitoring, and incident response support. The position works closely with the Technology Department, vendors, and leadership to implement security best practices while ensuring reliable network connectivity across all locations.

Associate's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
required Experience: Minimum of 1-3 years in an IT or cybersecurity role, ideally within a K-12 or public-sector environment. Certifications: CompTIA Security+, SSCP, or other relevant certifications
preferred . ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Security Monitoring and Incident Response
Monitor security alerts and reports from various security tools (e.g., firewalls, antivirus software, intrusion detection systems) and respond to security incidents. Assist in the investigation of security incidents, documenting findings, and escalating issues as needed. Support regular vulnerability scans and collaborate with the IT team to address identified risks.
Access Control and User Education
Assist with access control management, ensuring only authorized users have access to sensitive data and systems. Provide basic cybersecurity training and awareness materials to staff and students to promote safe technology practices.
Policy Compliance and Documentation
Follow district policies and regulatory guidelines (e.g., FERPA, CIPA) in relation to data privacy and security. Document security incidents, resolutions, and mitigation measures in a ticketing system. Assist in creating and maintaining documentation for cybersecurity policies, procedures, and response plans.
Network and Systems Security
Support the implementation of security controls on networks and endpoints (e.g., computers, tablets). Collaborate with IT staff to enforce security configurations on school district devices and software. Participate in patch management and software updates to address known vulnerabilities.
Risk Assessment and Reporting
Conduct basic risk assessments on technology initiatives and new software applications. Provide support in creating security reports for the administration, highlighting trends, risks, and improvement opportunities.
Other duties as assigned by the Director of Integrated Technology.
EVALUATION :
Job performance is evaluated in accordance with district guidelines.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT :
The amount of contract, length of the workday and the number of workdays at this time is determined by the Superintendent and/or his/her designee.
Primarily office-based with occasional travel between district schools as needed.
May require flexible hours to respond to security incidents.
Starting salary This position is unaffiliated ranging from $50,000-$60,000 based upon candidate's experience
