Position Overview
We are seeking a results-driven IT Project Manager to lead and oversee multiple concurrent technology projects for our diverse client portfolio. You will serve as the central point of coordination between client stakeholders, technical teams, vendors, and internal leadership. This role demands a unique blend of traditional project management discipline, technical understanding, and exceptional client relationship skills. You will be responsible for developing detailed project plans, managing resources, mitigating risks, and ensuring that every project delivers measurable business value. Success in this role means satisfied clients, profitable engagements, and repeat business.
Key Responsibilities
End-to-End Project Leadership:
Manage the complete project lifecycle for multiple IT projects simultaneously, including infrastructure deployments, cloud migrations, cybersecurity implementations, and software development initiatives, using appropriate methodologies (Waterfall, Agile, Hybrid). Planning & Scoping:
Develop comprehensive project charters, detailed work breakdown structures (WBS), realistic project schedules (Gantt charts), resource plans, and budgets. Conduct thorough requirement gathering sessions with clients and technical teams to define clear scope and success criteria. Stakeholder Communication:
Serve as the primary point of contact for all project communications. Facilitate regular status meetings with client executives and technical teams. Provide clear, concise, and timely updates through formal status reports, dashboards, and steering committee presentations. Risk & Issue Management:
Proactively identify, document, and manage project risks and issues. Develop and implement mitigation strategies and contingency plans. Escalate critical blockers to appropriate leadership with recommended solutions. Resource & Financial Management:
Coordinate internal and external resources (engineers, consultants, vendors) to ensure optimal allocation and task completion. Track project financials diligently, including budget vs. actuals, forecasted costs, and profitability. Approve timesheets and vendor invoices. Quality Assurance & Change Control:
Ensure all project deliverables meet predefined quality standards and client expectations. Implement and enforce a formal change control process to manage scope creep effectively. Obtain client sign-off at all key milestones. Vendor Management:
Manage relationships with third-party vendors and subcontractors. Ensure they deliver according to contract terms, project timelines, and quality standards. Project Closure & Transition:
Facilitate formal project closure, including lessons learned sessions, final documentation delivery, client satisfaction surveys, and smooth handoff to Managed Services teams for ongoing support. Required Qualifications & Skills
Experience:
5+ years of experience specifically managing
technical IT projects
in a consulting, MSP, or corporate IT environment. Must have experience with infrastructure, cloud, and/or security projects. Methodology Expertise:
Demonstrated experience with both
Waterfall
and
Agile
(Scrum/Kanban) methodologies. Ability to select and adapt the approach based on project needs. Technical Aptitude:
Strong understanding of IT concepts, terminology, and typical project lifecycles for areas such as network infrastructure, cloud computing (Azure/AWS), cybersecurity tools, and software deployment. Ability to engage in meaningful technical discussions with engineers. Tool Proficiency:
Advanced skills with project management software. Experience with
Microsoft Project ,
Jira ,
Smartsheet , or similar tools is required. Proficiency with PSA tools like ConnectWise Manage is a plus. Financial Acumen:
Proven ability to create, manage, and report on project budgets. Understanding of project profitability, margin, and resource utilization metrics. Communication & Leadership:
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills. Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams, manage client expectations, and facilitate difficult conversations with diplomacy and professionalism. Certifications (Highly Valued):
Project Management Professional (PMP)
certification from PMI is strongly preferred.
Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) ,
PRINCE2 Practitioner , or
ITIL Foundation
